    Long Cables to recommend

    Hello Rotel friends

I require some advise as to which type of cables are suitable for long runs ie>10m. I read somewhere that cross dia 6mm - 8mm of the conductor are best suited for long runs. Is this true?

    Thanks

One of the benefits of this forum is our sponsorship by Cat Cables. Perhaps if you drop Lex (Doug) a line he can shed some light on you subject.

      Thanks DrJRapp for preceeding me.

Voxy, general cable talk is not for club Rotel as outlined in the rules for posting in Club Rotel. This is really more a general audio topic. Not specific to Rotel.

I will say that while 10 meters(~ 30 feet) is certainly ok for audio. It will increase capacitance with increased resistance over this long a haul. Quality conductors, adequite shielding, good dielectric all good. I did not understand exactly what you were saying though. But contact me for a quote at the ad below, or my email.

Long cables - line level vs. speaker???
        by whoaru99
I see that many high-end companies recommend putting the amps close to the speakers and having longer line level cables versus longer speaker cables.

To me, this seems just backwards. Isn't it more likely that a long line level run has the possibility to degrade the signal more than a...

Long interconnects vs long cables for 802d/803d
        by joe_s
I will need to choose between long (about 60 feet) interconnects (balanced) between the pre/pro and the amp with roughly six feet speaker cables or alternatively short interconnects (a couple of feet) with about 60 feet of speaker cable from the amp to the speakers. The speakers in question will...

Which cables to have longer XLR or speaker?
        by jazznsoccer
What is the better trade off - having a good stereo amp close to the pre/pro and having longer speaker cables (~20 ft) or putting monoblocks at the speakers and running long XLR cables (~20 ft) from the pre/pro?

The center and surrounds and rears will have to do with 12 AWG zip cord....

A balanced system - 803s therapy from those who've moved up B&W's line

I've gone from the 600 to the 800 series and have a hodge podge of speakers now. I've made the best of it but have hit a wall. This is going to be lengthy but I'll keep it as brief as I can (not one of my gifts) and appreciate the assistance of any who run the gauntlet.

        The primary dilemma...
