    1056 popping information.

Ok we've been hearing a lot of about 1056's popping and various people have questioned what was going on as some units were working fine while others were not. According to Rotel the issue lies in a the DSP chip that appears to drift from it's normal operating parameters when it gets too hot. The Rotel techs at the factory have figured out that the fix requires a change to one of the resistors. All new product shipping now has this new resistor in place and the stock in the warehouse is going to be checked to make sure they work as they should so this issue shouldn't be with us much longer. If you own a 1056 that's got this problem please contact your dealer and have it sent in for the fix.

Is this true for the 1068 as well. I have had two units replaced in 3 weeks. Both had loud static like noises prior to the audio going completely out. The first unit also had the static shock that has been described in other threads. I am seriously considering getting out of the Rotel line while I still can.

The 1068 uses the same chip but from what I was told they (Rotel) hadn't seen any with the same problem...but if the symptoms were the same its likely the issue.

How about the 1098? since day one I've had low level static sounding discharges that occur randomly whenever I change sources that I never was very concerned about (compared to my 1098s more serious operational deficiencies) until the 1056 thread appeared.

              1056 question (Hiss issue)
              by cmr15
Well I'm finally setting up an appointment to hear the 1056 this weekend (and the Arcam 200) ... can't wait. Will probable add a used 2 channel Rotel for my fronts.

However, I'm a little concerned because I have been reading a lot about the fact that Rotel products, specifically the...

              RSX-1056 Annoying HDCD Issue
              by eslaudio
My new RSX-1056 has the annoying tendency to cut the first second of HDCDs. This does not happen with standard CDs but seems to be the result of the Rotel taking a second to read the HDCD. My player (Cambridge Audio Azur 640c) is not an HDCD player, and this problem did not happen with my previous...

              RSX-1056 Volume control issue
              by MustangJeff
Strange problem that started happening in the past 6 months. The volume control on the front of my RSX-1056 seems to have a mind of it's own.

When I increase the volume it works correctly, and the numbers (dB) increase normally.

When I turn the knob counter clockwise to...

Ideas/Opinions to toss vs fix RDV995 w/transformer buzz
              by Rotel4Life
I've had a RDV995 for many years and didn't use it for maybe a year or so. When I plugged it back in, there was a faint buzz- a very typical AC/DC transformer buzz. Then when I turned it on there was a LOUD buzz. I popped the hood and didn't see anything obviously cooked, no notable odors. In some other...

Does firmware 2.26 really fix popping
              by maddog
              Hello,

I have an RSX-1055 with the speaker popping bug when changing sources and surround modes. I installed firmware 2.26, which is supposed to fix this popping bug. However, it did not. In fact, it had no effect on the popping in my system whatsoever. The full version of the firmware...
