    1068 problem

    Hi there!

I was just wondering if anyone has the same problem as I do...
My 1068 is allways making a noise, not the electric kind of buz but more like a ssssss sound. I have tried to disconnect everything but the 1068 and my rb985. No luck. Changed to a carver amp. Still no change. The sound is in all the chanels, all the time.

The noise is so quiet that I can live with it but is it normal, schouldn“t a pre-amp be dead silent?

My 1068 is dead quiet. It's possible, although not certain, that you have a defective unit. Does the sound change at all when you change the 1068 between analog and digital inputs (even if nothing is connected to the inputs)?

Same thing when I switch between analog and digital. Same noise, samel level. The noise allways stays the same no matter what I do like changing volume or treble/bass levels...

      Any idea?

Possibly noise in the AC mains power is the source, but assuming it's not, it sounds like a problem with the "amp" portion of the pre-amp circuitry. You should probably take it back to your Rotel dealer to compare it with another unit and to confirm whether the problem still happens in his shop.

Try moving it to another power outlet...or at your dealers and see if it continues.

            Upgrading;Differences 1066/1068/1098
            by rosros
The Rotel web site is updated to include the 1066 replacement, the 1068. They also have the 1068 manual online. Having both 1098 and 1066 inhouse (wished the 1068 was here), I compared features, sound and the manuals for the 1098 to the 1068 to the 1066; here are the differences: Note I own the 1066...

Is the RSP-1098 sonically superior to the RSP-1068?
            by wirebrat
            Hi All,

I am a happy RSP-1068 owner. When I purchased it, I wanted the RSP-1098 but could not afford it. I now have the opportunity to upgrade for a reasonable premium. Aside from the TFT and perhaps some additional ins/outs, is there any sonic difference between the two?

            1068/1075 1st. 24 hours
            by Zomax
            Hooked up the 1068/1075 yesterday.

Initially had the units unboxed and setup at the dealer. At the dealer they
were dead quiet. At my place, there is a slight hum (6" from the speakers).
I'll track down the ground loop in due time.

            Initial impressions:...

2nd RSP 1068 Dead, Any alternatives?
            by bleeding ears
Hopefully someone at Rotel in Australia may read this.

After waiting 3 weeks for it, and then having to send back my first 1068 processor (at my expense) because it had no output signal for the subwoofer or centre speaker, I thought surely they will ensure the replacement unit is working...

1068 analog inputs failing... any thoughts?
            by mars
I've got a problematic 1068 that has already been to rotel once for relay problems. Initial problem was a bad output switching relay. came back working fine or so I thought.
I am beginning to experience worsening intermittent left channel analog input drop. i.e. the left channel just goes dead...
