    1068 Video Problems

Hello all, I just purchased my first Componet HT setup, 1068 and 1075 and I'm experiancing some issues.

I am using a Comcast Motorola 6208 STB, Kenwood DV-502 DVD player (not progressive), and a Mits 65809 (owner's manual ). The Cable box and the DVD player are connect to the 1068 via componet to V1 and V2. The 1068 is connected to the TV via commonet to the DTV input (capable of doing 480i, 480p, and 1080i.) Prior to getting the 1068 this is where I had the Cable box plugged in.

    I have the following problems.

    1. When tuned to a HD station on my cable box (1080i) the picture on the tv was not viewable, black screen, lines on left. This was fixed by switching the Progressive setting on the 1068 under the Options menu to V1. However this created a problem with the 1068 OSD. The words of the 1068 OSD now start towards the right side of the screen and the last part of the words are on the left side of the screen with some of the middle part missing. Also the font doens't look quite right. I can still make out what the setting are suppose to be since I'm now familure with the settings. This only happens if the video source on the 1068 is set to the same video source that the progressive setting is turned on for. It doesn't matter if the signal coming to the 1068 is SD or HD.

    2. When viewing a DVD (in 480i) the TV screen jumps to a blue screen every few seconds (typical of my TV when there is no video signal present). This was also fixed by setting the progressive setting on the 1068 to V2. Not sure why I would have to do this because it isn't a progressive or HD signal. However the same problem arised with the 1068's OSD as indicated above.

This is my second 1068 from the dealer and the first one was returned becuase of the issues above and one additional problem that was not present in the 1068 that I have now. When returning the 1st 1068 the dealer did hook it up to a LCD TV and the problems above did occur also. I haven't taken my new 1068 back to the dealer for them to test it with a different TV. I have spoke with a person at Rotel about this and they seem to think that it is an issue with my TV being incompatible or some thing. The way I understand the Progressive setting to work is when displaying the 1068 OSD it takes the video source away and displayes a black screen with the OSD menu in 480i. I'm the type of person that would like to know why something doesn't work the way it is suppose to, can anyone help?

Not so pleased new Rotel owner....

Yes, there are no problems if the Cable box or the DVD is connect directly to the TV.

No reason your 1068's OSD would be set to PAL would it? MAke sure it's set to NTSC..

While Rotel claims that the 1068 will ouput OSD on the component video outputs, I think that it's just incompatible with the DTV input of certain Mitsubishi models. I have a Mitsubishi 46809 RPTV and also feed it via the component DTV input, switching the component feeds of my progressive scan DVD player and my cable box (Moto 6412) through my RSP-1068. I've never been able to really find a satisfactory way to view the 1068's OSD through the component video feed. I ran a composite video cable to the TV from the 1068, which serves only as a conduit for the 1068's OSD. While this may seem inconvenient, I don't really don't find it to be much of an issue at all, since once I'd completed the setup of the 1068, I rarely find a need to revisit the OSD.

I run my samsung hd tuner/ dtv reciever, denon dvd, philips dvdr, all thru my 1068 into my toshiba via component and it works flawlessly, it did take a little bit of tinkering in the begining to get "all devices" set accordingly, but now I am home free. I also put my zenith vcr into a composite input just in case, have been able to select any video input and there it is, scaled as one would expect.

I am running component video to my projector (Dish Network and Xbox) and a HDMI cable from the OPPO BDP-83 to the projector. I have an S-video cable routed in the wall between the RSP-1066 and the projector but have never used it.

                G'day,

I think the video handling of my Rotel RSP-1068 pre/pro is acting up,

I've got an old TV, which only accepts composite input, and is non-progressive. I've got a set-top box connected via composite to Video 1, a VCR connected via composite to Video 3, and a DVD connected...

I just changed an old tv connected to my RSX 1067 with a new HD tv that now longer lets me view the OSD function. I've read the manual which seems to indicate there is a "progressive" setting the the "Other Options" setup menu. But to see the OSD to select the option assumes I...
