1095 auto on??

How are you guys setting up the 1095 to auto on with your pre-pro? I will be using my Pioneer Elite VSX-53TX as a pre-pro and would like the 1095 to turn on when I turn on the Elite.

I have a HK PA-5800 amp to power my bedroom speakers, and I have to go push the damn button in to turn it on when I want to use it, there is a way to get it to auto on, but it sounds wierd/complicated, so I don't bother. But with the 1095 I DEFINITELY want it to auto-on.

That's easy to solve for both units. Does your receiver have a 12 volt amp trigger on it? If not does it have a switched power outlet?

If it has an amp trigger what you'll need to buy is two 1/8" mono cables from a store like Radio Shack. You'll then plug one end into the amp trigger on the receiver and one into the Rotel's amp trigger input. There's a switch beside it that you'll need to move to ON. Now take the other cable and plug it into the amp trigger out on the Rotel and plug it into the HK's amp trigger. Now when you power on the receiver both amps will power up. From a quick look online I'm pretty sure your receiver does have a trigger so the above should work for you.

If the receiver doesn't have an amp trigger but does have a switched outlet what you'll need to buy is a power adaptor that has a selectable voltage switch on it. Radio shack should have one of these fairly cheap. You'll also need a 1/8" mono cable and a 1/8" mono adaptor. Now this is where it gets more complex as you're going to need to cut off the end of the power cord from the wall adaptor and solder on the 1/8" adaptor to the end so that the centre pin is hot. Once that's done you can plug the adaptor into the switched outlet on the receiver and plug it into the 1095's amp trigger input just like paragraph above. If any this is unclear let me know and I'll see what I can do.

I think the first scenario is the way to go The Elite should have the amp trigger. I don't want both amps to kick on when I turn the Elite on, I want the HK to kick on when I turn the Multi-Room source on. I think there is a way to do that as well, I will see if the 1/8" mono jack has a spot on the multi-source area to turn an amp on, I just thought the HK was too old to have that ability, and you had to do some crazy stuff

No its got the same amp trigger system as the Rotel. The only thing it lacks is an amp trigger out to daisy chain them together which is why I said you'd have to goto the Rotel first then onto the HK.

One problem you may run into with Andrews method is when both the receiver and 1095 turn on at the same time you could trip your breaker. Do you have a surge protector or power conditioner in your setup that has time delay outlets?

If that happens you need more current :yesnod: I never thought of that but I've got two 20 amp lines running to my gear rack so it hasn't been an issue for me...its a good point though.

For me I use a Monster HTPS 7000 and put my NAD S250 on a 20sec delay. My
Pioneer 56TXi turns on the 7000 via 12v trigger which in turn, turns on the NAD.

Thanks Andrew, like I said, I will see what I can do about setting the auto-on for the HK just to come on with the Multi-Source enabled.

As for my surge protector, I run the Elite through a Monster HTS 2600, I plug the HK in the HTS2600 as well, but the Rotel is going straight into the wall.

How the hell do you know if you have a 20amp line, or whatever, going straight to this or that, etc. I ALWAYS See people saying they have a dedicated 20 amp line for their 1095's, etc etc.

Can you shed some light on that and how I get one of those

Most people who have a dedicated 20 amp breaker had an electricain install one in their home. That's what I did. You can do some of your own checking by going to the breaker box and turning off one breaker at a time. Then go back in the house and see what outlets, lights, etc. are on that breaker. Some breakers might be labled with things like kitchen, living room, den, etc.

Chances are you don't have a dedicated breaker unless you had one installed. It cost me about $400.00 US to have two 20 amp breakers installed in my house. It could be less or more depending on how far away the breaker is from your Home Theater.

What are the regular breakers? Are they 20 amp but run on mulitple sockets? My breaker box does have labels, but they are like lights switches, etc, not a dedicated one thing here and there. Is it ok to run the 1095 off a wall socket that is on the same breaker as other stuff? I have the SVS PB12-Ultra/2 on one socket alone, and then the HTS2600 on another socket alone. The Rotel will go on the 2nd plug socket thing that the HTS in on, what's the bad/good/ulgy on that? Pretty much the only option, I may have another socket up there, but can't remember right now

OP most normal plugs are all 15 amps and that number could be lower depending on what else is on that line drawing current from it. I installed my own lines directly from the panel to the back of my gear rack but I'd recomend having an electrician install them for you if you don't know exactly what you're doing.

The breakers in your breaker box basically supply power to all your plug in sockets as well as some of your lights. For example, I have one breaker (the thing that looks like a light switch in the breaker box) that is labled "Living Room".

That one breaker supplies power to about 8 dual plug-in plates (recepticles) around the living room. That's two outlets for each wall plate. I'm sure you have something similar. In addition to the 8 wall plate recepticles, that same breaker supplies power to about 4 or 5 lights in my living room (the lights that are in the ceilings and are hard wired to the flip switches on the wall).

You may or may not have a problem tripping breakers. The best way to find out is to try it and see. If it doesn't trip the breaker then your probably okay. If it does you will need to add a dedicated breaker or try to move some of your gear off the breaker that's tripping and put it on a seperate breaker.

Keep in mind that the RMB-1095 does not pull 1000 watts all the time. As a matter of fact you would be hard pressed to get it to use that much power. Your ears would probably explode first!
