    RDC-7 multi-channel analog bypass

Hi, I'm considering replacing my Meridian 568 with a pre/pro to get multi-channel analog bypass. There seems to be many things I like about the RDC-7 (can't audition, no dealers close); I keep questioning the quality of the MC analog bypass, however, because of the 25 pin input (in contrast to RCA jacks). Any owners having any thoughts, pro or con?

    Thanks!

Although some folks have expressed "intellectual" concern about the small wire size and narrow pin spacing of the 25 pin input, in practice, those among us here who have used it report no problems. At least not anywhere I've been reading. :>) Leslie, would you like to comment ?

My concern would have been the additional plug/adaptor connections required to hook up multi-channel sources to the adaptor provided with the RDC-7 which has short leads with female plugs. Some folks have bought cable assemblies with the 25 pin adaptor at one end and cables (long enough to reach their multichannel source component) with male connectors at the other end to eliminate this extra stage of connections.

I'm holding out for the promised IEEE1394 (aka "firewire") digital connection which will make the analog multichannel bypass a moot point for most uses. In the meantime, "Direct" mode already provides stereo analog bypass for all analog sources using the standard RCA connections, so the 25 pin connector doesn't even have to come into play for two channel.

    Good luck!

Sorry, Burke, that I haven't been online for ages so I would've seen this post. I've had no problem with the multichannel bypass. I'm using it with a Sony SACD 555ES and getting magificent sound.

Best analog input for 2CH CD
        by shuang1234
I have an Arcam CD72T and use the analog out to the RSP-1066 CD L/R input. I make sure to select 2CH mode since my understanding is that selects analog bypass. The front speakers are set to Large in the Rotel settings.

A friend mentioned that the best analog sound will be achieved by...

I just got an email from someone who shall remain anonymous unless he volunteers to come forward and identify himself. :>) Actually he asked a good question that I thought might be of general interest, so I’m posting the answer here in addition to answering the email.

No true analog bypass on RSP-1066???
        by Martinf
Prior to committing to a multi-channel pre-amp (RSP-1066), I’ve been studying the specifications and user manuals for both the Rotel RSP-1066 and very new RSP-1098.

        1. Some observations from RSP-1098 manual:-

        (a) On page 13 in the RSP-1098 manual it has an explicit...
