Help Me With This Problem ...

I very much enjoy listening to music while playing my PS2.

I currently have the PS2 hooked up to the RDC-7 via component video & optical digital audio.

The problem is that I can't figure out how to put the audio on the RDC-7 on CD, and the video on Component #2. The CD input only gives me video options for Video 1-5, not the components.

Any ideas? This seems like it could be a software oversight, that hopefully would be fixed in a future upgrade.

    Thanks,

    David

    David -

Unless they change the allowable input configurations in a future update, it looks like you'd need to use "DVD", "Video1", "Video2", "Video3", "Video4" or "Video5" to be able to use both a digital audio input and a component video input for the same "Input Source".

The "Default Setting" chart on p23 of the "Instruction Guide" shows "No Applicable" (sic) under "Component Video" for "CD", "Phono", "FM", "AM", "Tape1" and "Tape2". The "DVD" and "VideoX" input sources either have a component video input assigned by default or show "----" ("No setting"), which indicates one is possible, but would need to be assigned by the user.

Here is an alternative: The RDC-7 lets you select a video source to play and then select a different audio source to play at the same time with the audio source overriding the video source's audio, while keeping the video source's video active. So you could assign the PS2's component input to a video source and the PS2's digital audio to "CD", and then first select the video source and then "CD" in sequence for playback.

    Hope that helps a little...

Actually, couldn't I use a Video input for the CD player, and assign to it Component Video #2, then use a second Video input for the PS2, and assign the same Component Video #2.

I think that this, or something like this, should work. I can then rename the Video input I use to something like SONY SACD.

      Lets see if this works.

Sure -- if your goal is to punch just one button on the remote and have the video from the PS2 showing via component video inputs and the audio coming from your SACD/CD player, then it sounds like what you propose should work. I've already found that you can have the same audio input assigned to more than one named source; I don't see why the same shouldn't be true for video inputs.

        Good luck!

          Xbox: S-Video AND Component Outs?
          by Dave D
          Hi all,

Does anyone know of a way to get S-video AND component video signals out of an Xbox? I know you can purchase S-video OR component video cables, but I'm not aware of anything that does both concurrently.

Unfortunately, I need S-video for the TV and component for...

          RSP-1068 - Can I switch video input "on-the-fly"?
          by Blindamood
Does anyone know of a way (via the remote) to switch the current video input without first going to the OSD?

For example, while I'm listening to SACD/DVD-Audio, I'm using the Ext mode (multi-channel analogs). I have set this--via the OSD--to show Video2 (HDTV) by default; however, I...

Workaround for 1066 2 component video input limitation?
          by SayersWeb
Since getting an HD cable box I have three sources of component video (cable box, DVD, Playstation 2) to use with my front projector system. I've been using S-Video with the PS2, but it does not look anywhere near as good on a 92" screen.

So, I'm trying to think of a good workaround....

Rotel 1066 component video setup problem
          by mattstacey
          Hi guys,

I just replaced my Denon 3802 with a Rotel 1066 yesterday, hooked up to a Rotel 1075 amp. I haven't had much of a chance to listen to it yet but so far it sounds awesome.

I have a problem with my video connections though. I had no problems with the Denon 3802 so...

Rotel 1060 Video connection with 1098/Plasma.
          by >>Angel<<
          Dear Rotel enthousiasts,

Yesterday I bought a Pioneer plasma screen to complete my Rotel setup
After concluding all the (required) connections I found out that there's a problem displaying (progressive or not) an 1060 image on the Plasma screen.
          I really hope...
