CD player to match my Parasound C2 and replace Arcam DV89plus

CD player to match my Parasound C2 and replace Arcam DV89plus.

In at a dealer today, I mentioned I had a parasound C2 processor and was looking for more for 2 channel music and was my Arcam DV89+ a match for the c2.

He said I could get a big improvement from some sub £700 players.

He mentioned Denon and Yamaha among a few.
He suggested the parasound was being let down badly by the arcam.

Can I have some suggestions of new and second hand models to look at to match my processor or is he being over enthusiastic!

What do you mean, "match your processor"? Nothing will match that processor except for the upcoming Parasound disc player, D4 I think it's called?

If you meant you just need a new CD player, there's a lot out there. Jolida and Arcam make great CD players. Very musical. If you want a multi-format player (CD, SACD, and DVD-A) Denon is a strong contender in that field.

This topic isn't really appropriate for the Parasound forum, as it doesn't really have anything to do with Parasound, other than the fact that your processor happens to be made by them. You'd probably get a lot more traffic if you posted in the Audio Hideout forum.

Are you running the Arcam into the C2 with analog or digital cables? If it's analog, try going into the C2 with an optical or digital coax and let the C2's do the work. It's worth a try. Or buy an outboard DAC.

Sounds like the dealer wanted to FUD you into making him a nice holiday bonus.
