No programmable outputs for 7.1 Analog on the C2!

Very disappointed to find that my brain storm idea of adding a pair of subs to actively cancel a major room mode is limited to only my Digital sources. No where in the manual does it explain that this would be the case, but a call to Parasound has confirmed that my weekend of measuring and major restructuring of my wiring was all for not, at lest as far as my SACD collection goes. I also notice that the 2 ch analog inputs are far less homogenous then the 5.1 digital sources, I don’t know if this in inherent in the source or the processor. Either way, none of the programmable outputs will work for the 7.1 analog outs (SACD) and work poorly for other analog sources. It does sound much better for 5.1 digital sources though, so I’m having a hard time deciding on rather to keep it this way and find a external switch box that will allow the corner subs to be engaged with the main sub, which will take another band pass filter, or just ditch my entire SACD collection. As it is, its un-listenable.

Thanks a lot Parasound for building up the utility of these programmable channels and forgetting to mention in your manual that they don’t work for 7.1 analog, nice going.

    From the manual:

"7.1: Switches to the C 2 Controller’s 7.1-channel analog unbalanced inputs, for use with multichannel DVD-Audio and SACD players, or any future components that do their own surrounddecoding. Like the “Bypass” mode for the balanced inputs, this is a direct pass-through mode, with no processing except the precision analog volume control, for maximum signal purity."

    Sounds clear to me. 8)

That only applies to ballanced sources, still this does not tell you that the programmable outputs will be mute, nothing does.

Yet one more reason I want the capability of high-resolution audio of all formats passed through HDMI, to the C1 with processing capability.

Well, we're safe for now. Thank goodness we're in a bowling alley.

Well, My 2-ch digital music is sounding pretty good with this configuration and looks good on the in room waterfall plot (ETF5.9), so now I really need a way to figure how to get the Aux 10 programmable channel output bridged to .1 ch out.

I too was disapointed to find out that the aux. channels didn't work with the 7.1 inputs. I use these channels for front effect speakers. These speakers are mounted above and to the left and right of my main speakers. They really add alot to the front stage sound. I use them for movies and music.

Before I bought the C1 I called parasound and asked if the aux. channels would work with the 7.1 inputs, and I was told that they would. After buying the piece I found out that they don't. I called parasound to ask them what I was doing wrong in the set-up, and I was told that they must have misunderstood my question.

Hopefully an HDMI upgrade will allow us to use them.

Anybody using the multichannel input instead of "direct" for analog sources?

I just got an email from someone who shall remain anonymous unless he volunteers to come forward and identify himself. :>) Actually he asked a good question that I thought might be of general interest, so I’m posting the answer here in addition to answering the email.

              digital outputs on the 1066

              hiya folks

I *may* have the ability to pick up a pair of meridian active speakers that I would use as mains but these beasties only accept digital inputs. does anyone know how successful I would be using them with the 1066 if I were to get them?

              I was wondering about plugging...

C1/C2 at full output w/ 7.1 analog connected
              by blownrx7
I had the analog outputs of my Denon DVD-5900 disconnected for a while when I was messing with other stuff. I just reconnected them and now anything from the DVD player plays at FULL volume (I suspect 0 db). The C1 volume control has NO EFFECT. If I disconnect the analog inputs to the C1, the problem...

Results of my CD v SACD test
              by sfdoddsy
I posted below my desire to check out the advantages of SACD versus CD, which has been difficult for me because I use a digital crossover/roomEQ system that redigitizes everything. I already have about 30 DVD-As and SACDs.

Well, I'm upgrading that digital stuff at the moment, and have...

              Question re: Direct vs. Multi-Ch
              by dschamis
Is it safe to assume that for two-channel analog sources (ie SACD, DVD-Audio), it is irrelevant whether you use the Multi-Channel input (L & R only) or the Direct mode of one of the inputs?

              Thanks,

              David
