add'l DAC for Stereo in Bypass

I purchased a Goldmund Digin DAC for Stereo only output from my transport to the xlr bypass in on the HALO C1 and there was "noticeable" improvement in Stereo Quality.

Warmer, more ambient, and more definition. Although using the Halo's DAC's for stereo is not bad at all, the improvement was worth the investment.

Of course $2000+ for 'just' a DAC should add performance.

I think any of the big contenders in HT ie: Lexicon, Meridian, Halo, Krell etc will not have specific DAC's for stereo that "could" perform like a Stereo specific DAC. The cost of just the super quality DAC alone would push the price over the edge.

I am now even happier than I was before with the sound. Not much more to do. :T

Great Idea! I was never satisfied with my surround system when it came to just stereo. Yet again, I'm running a DAC on my stereo system and still easily hear the improvement. There is more than just a couple of chips in an external Dac.

Goldmund has the top of the line DAC called Nemisis and its a $10k+ DAC with lots of 'bells and whistles' volume control, multi functional, lots of connection possibilities, but they came out with just a simple DAC (similar to the expensive model) with nothing, 2 rca in and 2 rca out and a electric plug. Looks like a black box, no design, no frills, just a DAC, but what a DAC.

Together with the C1 they make music.

I did an A/B comparison as one goes bypass (XLR) and the other comes in direct (RCA) and the diference is quite noticeable.

When I bought it we did an A/B Comparison with just a Cary DVD player and that was night/Day.

        RSX 1056 Stereo Mode
        by Fred7
I just upgraded from a RSP-1066 and a RSX-1055 to a pair of brand new RSX-1056 receivers, one for my living room and one for my bedroom. One of the main reasons that I upgraded was to get true analog bypass for two channel and multi channel inputs. I was also looking forward to using the two channel...

        Stereo vs Bypass
        by roscoe5250
I'm noticing a pretty big difference between the 2 modes on my rsp 1068, but I just want to make sure this sounds right. I have a pair of av123 rocket 550s, which are rated to go down to about 60 hz. In stereo mode, I have the crossover set to 80 hz and use the sub.

        When I listen to...

        RSX-1056 Stereo Listening . . .

Been wanting to post this question for a while but never got around to it. Anyway, have any of you noticed a rather SIGNIFICANT difference in mid and high frequency detail when switching between stereo and bypass modes?

I find that bypass is MUCH "cleaner", with way more...

Does anyone use a Preamp to bypass HT
        by misterdoggy
I am using a CD to DAC to bypass in the Processor. I'm wondering if a good Preamp in the process might add something.

This would be just for stereo CD's of course. Any experience would be appreciated.
