    Stereo vs Bypass

I'm noticing a pretty big difference between the 2 modes on my rsp 1068, but I just want to make sure this sounds right. I have a pair of av123 rocket 550s, which are rated to go down to about 60 hz. In stereo mode, I have the crossover set to 80 hz and use the sub.

When I listen to music in stereo mode, everything sounds cleaner and there's a little more separation, and the vocals especially, sound more up front. In bypass mode, everything just sounds a little bit softer and a little more congested. The louder the volume, the more noticeable it is, and it's also easier to notice on music with a lot of deep bass. It's not that it sounds bad in bypass mode, it actually still sounds really good, it just seems to have more life in stereo mode.

Is what I'm hearing normal for most speakers that aren't truly full range? I was expecting stereo mode just to add a little more bottom end.

    Thanks!

Well in bypass mode everything goes to the front speakers. With no crossover, the amplifier is trying to reproduce every sound. You're probably wasting a lot of the amplifier power to try and reproduce sounds the speaker is not going to make. The low drivers moving to reproduce the lower frequency sounds it can make could also color the sound.

Have had the setup for 2 months and everything has been fine until now. The other night I had company over to watch a movie. I activated Video 2 [assigned to DVD with Default Mode set to DPLIIC] but it came up in Bypass mode.

Are there discrete codes for Sound Mode for the C2?
      by Jon SS
Just wondering if there are discrete codes for the sound modes (stereo, DPLII, direct, etc).

I was thinking of getting a media extender and wanted to setp up the remote so that if you wanted to listen to music from the pc (vs. video) it could automaticlly change the sound mode to stereo...

      SSP-300 bypass / sound modes
      by weijst
Recently I contacted Classe to ask about a 'source direct' or 'bypass' mode on the SSP-300. I was informed that the 7.1CH analog inputs are the SSP-300’s only bypass inputs and if these were used by for instance a blu-ray player I could no longer bypass other input signals.

      I'm planning...

      RSX 1056 Stereo Mode
      by Fred7
I just upgraded from a RSP-1066 and a RSX-1055 to a pair of brand new RSX-1056 receivers, one for my living room and one for my bedroom. One of the main reasons that I upgraded was to get true analog bypass for two channel and multi channel inputs. I was also looking forward to using the two channel...
