    SV Subwoofers

    Hello!

Just out of curiosity, what's your opinion on the SV Subwoofers?

They are produced in the US right? Here in Norway the SV Subwoofers, just called SVS, are very popular, although there are no local dealers carrying these. We have to import them, and I have played with the thought of buying one, maybe the PB12 Ultra/2.... rather expencive, but seems to be very good.

What do you guys think? Are the SVS's as good as the rumors tell?

And by the way... with the C1, is it possible to connect two different subwoofers with different profiles, so that one could be used with music and the other with just movies?

    YES, YES, YES

I have an SVS PB12 Plus/2 the model directly below the PB12 Ultra/2. It is clean, detailed and oh so powerful. Here in the US they are a tremendous value. This sub is my second from SVS. SVS has no dealers here in the US either, they sell exclusively online. I would contact Ron at SVS and they can guide you through the import process.

I'm in complete agreement with DrJRapp. They are a tremendous value for your money.

I would email Ron and Tom and they will walk you thru the process. Give them your room dimensions and such and they will advise you on what they suggest. They won't oversell you. The ultra is their best though

SVS subs are hugely popular among anyone who knows anything about music or hometheater, and rightfully so. Because they distribute solely online, there is no middle-man and thus, minimal overhead. You're essentially paying for the sub itself, and none of the marketing, publicity, and all that jazz that comes with mass-market brand names.

I own the SVS PB2+ and it simply is amazing. It sounds better than subs costing twice as much in my opinion, and I've listening to quite a few.

Let me just put it this way... Here in Los Angeles, we get a ton of earthquakes. However, half the time I fail to notice any quake, only finding out later on the news that there was one. The reason? I'm so used to the sub-aural level of bass the SVS pumps out during action movie passages that my mind automatically dismisses any such "sound" (because it's more of a feeling) as harmless.

            Preliminary IMD measurements for subwoofers
            by Ilkka
There has been a lot of discussion about intermodulation distortion (IMD) over various Internet discussion boards, and since very few IMD measurements have been done for any subwoofer, most of the discussion has been basically guessing and making overly generous assumptions related to linear excursion...

            Q? about SVS Subs
            by Markmm
Trying to decided between the PB12 Plus /2 and the PB12 Ultra. The Plus / 2 has 2 12", while the Ultra has 1 but of better quality. I sent SVS and e-mail and they said it was a matter of taste, but the personally he liked the added feel of the 2 subs over the higher quality 1 sub. They're both...

Curious on peoples opinions on the above. I heard two of these subs at my work place playing some recorded music and they absolutely blast bass, more than what my SVS PB-13 ultra is capable of 8O . How would they sound in a home audio set up? I understand the lowest note they play is about 35 Hz or...
