    802 Diamonds / HTM2D / Onkyo 5509 Processor and DB1 Sub

Just starting installation of my DB1 into a system comprising of:

    802 Diamonds FL and FR
    HTM2 Diamond Centre
    CCM818 Rears and Surround Backs

    Onkyo 5509 Processor

Fed into CP800/CA3200 to power fronts, CAP2100 to power centre. Both on HT BYPASS and a Rotel 1565 to power rears.

Up until now, I had 802s and HTM2D set to large with the CCM818s set with a 60Hz Crossover.

Now need to install my DB1.

Shall I leave speakers size settings as they are or change all to small and route all bass through the DB1 ?

This only affects 7.1 surround sound use. For stereo, I use the CP800 and CA3200's on their own.

Yes, you should set all the speakers to small and, if you are committed to 60Hz for the CCM818s, set them all to that frequency.

Thanks Kal. I can set a different crossover for each speaker - is there an advantage to having them all set to 60Hz if, say, the 802's can go lower ? Thanks Tom

I would start with 60Hz and then experiment. Without a lot of data, no one can predict what would be optimum.

Many thanks Kal. I'll use that as a starting point. Tom

I know the most common recommendation is to set all speakers to small and let the sub do the job, but in my setup I actually think that takes away something.
My bass response is much better measured with the front speakers set to large. Now that may be due to acoustics but just want to say that sometimes the general rule is not the way to go.
For ref my system is 802Ds, 855 sub and HTM4S. Rear are SCMS.
            Classe SSP-800, Classe amps... Etc.

Of course. Audyssey is a great application and it assures most of a good outcome. OTOH, it is not a replacement for a good measurement setup and individual tweaking.

                802 Diamonds with DB1 on 2 Channel only ?
                by Edgeyboy
                Hi.

I have a pair of the current 802 Diamonds, a Classe CP800 and Classe CA2300.

Would I gain anything adding a B&W DB1 to the set up purely for music listening ?

The CP800 has a sub out for 2.1

                Thanks

B&W DB1 and JL F113 and Emotiva... Fun day to say the least
                by BVLDARI
So I had an interesting AV day yesterday. First, Emotiva was in a suburb in Chicago. Second, my dealer is not far from where Emotiva was - so I planned an afternoon music.

My Emotiva experience was a bit disappointing. They did not have enough people there to handle the (relatively small)...

Went with a group to Stereo Exchange in NYC to hear their wares. And the new 800 series were there.

Let me just say that to all the people complaining about the way the speaker looks with the silver trim, rest assured that it looks very handsome in person. I think the flash on camera's...

Signature 800's versus 802 Diamonds questions
                by andrewmr
                Multi part question.
                .....
What is a pair of Signature 800's worth?

How would they compare to the current version of the 802 Diamonds? I'm guessing the current 802's will sound better....

I also understand that the 800's will require as much power...

                To all,

It's long been a goal to get the 802's. When the newest 800 series came out, all the better, with the improvements made. I'm finally in a position to do a major system upgrade. Last night I ordered the 802D's and matching HTM2D center (in Rosenut). My dealer thinks I...
