I was looking through the Audiogon's B&W speaker list and checking out the photos. I noticed that I prefered the old finish to the new finish of a particular series. I've become biased towards my particular range series of B&W speakers that I own. I love the sound and I find them gorgeous. Even though I know my speakers are an older generation or two, I don't think I would rush out and upgrade. I'm content, I love the sound, they surprise me still, it's just plain listening pleasure. I'm a satisfied B&W owner.

I replaced my B&W Matrix 801 S3 with B&W 800Di's some month ago. And I still don't know if it was the right decision.
Of course I have listened to the 800Di's at home, before I bought them and they have some qualities, but on the other hand the Matrix 801 S3 sounded so 'complete', so much at equilibrium in my home and they had a much more overwhelming effect when I got them.
In other words: I think I understand.- Bottom

Well hope you can do some adjusts to your setup and become satisfied with them. I didnt listen too much M801 but they were one of the best speakers of all time and yet not too much expensive. I still own the 801D and I dont think they owe anything to the old matrix "sister". That´s why I hope B&W sometime in the next years debut a new series returning their best project everOriginally posted by JürgenWOf course I have listened to the 800Di's at home, before I bought them and they have some qualities, but on the other hand the Matrix 801 S3 sounded so 'complete', so much at equilibrium in my home and they had a much more overwhelming effect when I got them.

by JorgitoxHi everybody!
As many of you, the Matrix 801 were a dream from the very beginning, when falling into Hi-Fi clutches. Years have passed and finally I could bought a pair of 801 Series II second handed (white ones), while now I also got another pair of 801 (black ones), but in Series III....-

by ka7niqMany non B&W lovers really have NO idea just what a great speaker they were.
I cut the Zobel capacitor in mine, and relocated a couple crossover inductors.
I have the B&W "Van Alstine mod sheet" for the Matrix 801 series 2's if anyone needs it ?
Since I have owned...-

by JürgenWIn the thread 'How to replace tweeters on Nautilus and Signature speakers' DM3000 Owner answered my question about replacing tweeters on the Matrix 801 S3 (and S2) as follows:
"I did a Matrix tweeter....
You can do it two ways. Both require removing the tweeter housing.

by ManofIronI am new to the B&W scene and was hoping you guys could give me some descriptions of how these b&w speakers sound in relation to each other. Also what are their individual pro's and con's? I am strongly tempted to go with a pair of Nautilus 805's as I can get them for $1,400.00 but I can get...-

by JoawenHi, i have a nice pair of old Matrix 801 series3 as front speakers and a pair of Matrix 802 series3 as surr. (the 801's has the B&W BassAlignmentFilter)
Ofcourse it would be ideal to find a "Matrix HTM" center to match them but it's quite impossible to find one here in Sweden,...-
