    Center channel speakers for 804s

I just picked up some 804s speakers. I have the CMC2 center already. Wondering if the HTM1's would be a "much" bettter compliment or will the 2 be fine. It would cost me about $800 to upgrade to a used HTM1. Being I can't find a 1 to audition, what are your opinions between the CMC2 and the HtM1?

    moosepapi,

I would definitely recommend the HTM1 as a center. The synergy of the same level of speakers will be quite good. The bass extension is very impressive for a center channel.

I've had the 804/HTM1 combo before. The HTM1 is a VERY good center channel.

The HTM1 is a physically big speaker. Make sure you have room for it. If you do have room, I would definitely recommend it.

You can just see the bottom of an HTM2D in my avatar picture. It's the same size as an HTM1, so it gives some size perspective.

    Hope this helps.

Moosepapi.. Do you have N804 or 804S? If you have 804S you may want to look for the HTM3S instead of the HTM1 (which is a match for the N804). The HTM3S is the exact match for the 804S.

        Cheers,

In perfect condition with original box etc.

            HTM1 - $1400 - $1700
            HTM3S - $1800 - $2200

Color of course makes a difference. Most of the Rosenut ones I have seen are on the higher side. Not sure what you are looking to match.

            Cheers,

For some odd reason since the new series came out, the used sales of the S series almost seemed to drop off the map? I remember you could log onto Audiogon or Ebay and there would be plenty of S series speakers for sale and always one of the three colors of a HTM3S for sale and there hasn't been much of anything for sale lately since the new updated series came out (I've been looking for another pair of 805S or 804S locally with not much luck). Before there used to be plenty for sale everywhere, does anyone else notice the sudden drop of sales of the S series since the release of the new updated Diamonds? Is it because the price is so much higher on the new diamonds from the S series that people are holding on to what they have knowing to replace them will cost them a pretty penny? I know I'm holding onto my 804S/HTM3S for the long haul... I'm going to add in a pair of 805S or another pair of 804S in the rear channels to replace the 685's and be done with it...

Started looking for the HTM3s and I can't find one anywhere. Going to have to hang on to my cmc2 until I run across one. I just don't see a 1 anywhere.

There are a couple of HTM series of centres on EBAY right now.

                        Bi-Amp Center Channel?

I will be re-connecting all of my speakers with new upgraded speaker cable today or tomorrow. Now my system upgrades are almost complete. Except for a desire to change a few interconnects, the main weakness in my system is that I am still using a Rotel 1075 5 channel amp to power my rear 805's, a...

Goldmund Job 200 Amp for HTM1
                        by gostan
My weak-link Rotel 1075 powering my HTM1 center speaker is going to face a comparison test this weekend. My dealer loaned me a Goldmund Job 200 monoblock amplifier to test in place of the Rotel 1075. It is a tiny light box of 15 cm x 25 cm x 5 cm running at 200W. No lights, dials or adjustments....

B&W Center Channel Speaker or Phantom?
                        by beden1
I had first asked this question in another discussion, but felt it best to start a thread here, as it may also hold interest to others.

I currently have a compromise/mis-match using an HTM1 center channel speaker along with 803D fronts. I'm having a real hard time justifying the cost...

I bought a used htm1 center channel about 3 weeks ago from the local agents. It was supposed to be an upgrade from an LCR6 S2, however at the moment i am totally underwhelmed.

Audibly it sounds so much leaner, with almost no bass extension and the highs almost seem bright. Running the...

Anyone put HTM1 above SXRD or LCD rear projection TV?
                        by rick12665
                        Hi guys,

I have a Sony 60" SXRD TV with the Sony stand that fits it perfectly.

Problem is my B&W HTM1 center does not fit in the Sony stand.

Anyone put their HTM1 above their rear projection TV?

                        thanks,
                        Rick
