New to B&W need advise on 804's

Hello, I am new here and looking for some advise. I have been re-building my system now for last year and the speakers are next, I have heard the 804D at a dealer and liked them. My question is, can anyone explain the differences (in sound) between the new 804D's and the previous 804N and 804's ?
Forgive me if this has been asked and answered. I am looking to buy used and there is quite a price difference amongst those. I am also open for suggestions as I am seeking a really good speaker that is dynamic and great imaging and able to do so at lower volumes as well. I felt the 803D was too big (and didn't image as well) this was just once at a dealer however. My current speakers are Martin Logan's I tried Vandersteen 3A's but they didn't work well in my room. (15x22x8')
Associated gear is all ARC CD3, LS26, VT100 .

In post number 7 of the link below I compared 804Di to 803D to my 804s. I have never heard the N804.

The good news is, you can buy N804 or 804S used and sell them a year later for what you paid.

Thanks, do you know the time line? as in which model was first? I am also confused as I research as it seems that some of the older 803 had two woofers as do the current 804? And the current 803 have 3 woofers.

Yes,

The N804 was first I think from 1999 to about 2004, then the 804S was until 2010 and now it is the 804Di This is the first 804 with the Diamond Tweeter.

In the last generation of 803 there was an 803S with two woofers and aluminum tweeter (just like the 804S but with bigger enclosure and woofers). There was also the 803D which had three woofers and the diamond tweeter.

In the new Di generation there is no 803S and the 803Di is similar to the older 803D
