    Differences between N804 and 804S

I find a very cheap N804 and it's condition is very well. But I really like to know what are the differences between new 804s and n804. By any chance, any of you know the diffrences. Many thank's...

As far as I know the main difference is the woofer materiel. There may also be some minor cosmetic differences like the tweeter housing and mounting.

If I am recalling correctly, the crossovers in the 804S are greatly improved over the Xover in the N804.

Is this correct? I thought it was the diamod tweeter that allowed the simpler cross-over and so the 804S and 805S have the original cross-over. I might be absolutely wrong but I thought I read somewhere that this was the case.

I believe the crossover was/is improved from the N804 to the 804S.

Someone else is going to comment on which one of us is correct. Either way, meh...

The crossover for the entire 800 series is improved. So the crossover for the 804s is improved over the N804.

When I was looking to purchase the 804s I, too, had a chance to get a good deal on even the N803. I have never looked back in my decision to purchase the 804s.

I was pretty sure that I heard/read this. Also, it wouldn't make sense to release a new line of products with slightly different drivers and not improve the crossover. That would be like shooting ones self in the foot.

The only thing that is the same is the cabinet. The tweeter is different in the 804S - it has a flatter response at the top end of its range. The FST is improved - it has a better (more rigid) basket and improved voice coil. Also, as you stated, the woofers are upgraded - they are now made of Rohacell. The crossovers are now simpler with the driver upgrades as well. The simpler the crossover, the more power gets to the drivers and the better the speakers sound.

                    Hi,

Could someone pls help me make a decision?

I am planning to upgrade my b&w705 to 804s however, the dealer near me don't have 804s. He said that if I order my speakers it will be available in 3-4 weeks time. At present, he has the older N804 and is recommending...

Will the N804 be a good match with the HTM4s and 805s rears? I'm asking because i can get a great deal on the N804 from my dealer but i'm apprehensive about the sound matching with the HTM4s and 805s in 5.1. Now all my music listening is in 2 channel.

My dealer has the 803s, which i listened...

I listened to B&W 603s3 (too thin), CM4 (nice), CM6 (more bass and the FST rocks) and then 703 (the best by far). When I came back to the CM6, it sounded like well localized boxes and thinner so I won't go lower than 703's. But since they sound very good (for now) on the affordable RA-1062, I can...

                    803D vs. 802D vs. 804S - a subjective comparison
                    by Hannu
I had an in-depth private demo at a scandinavian dealer last week. I compared 802D's to 803D's and finally listened to a pair of 804S's just to keep the things in scale. I've lived with a pair of the first generation N804's for 4 years now.

The electronics consisted of a stack of the...

                    by Juan Cortez
I have pretty much decided that I will be going with the B&W's. I was wondering, is there really a huge difference between the N804 and the 804S? I am looking at the 2 following set ups:

                    N 804 (pair)
                    N 805 (2 pair)
                    N HTM1
                    ASW 855 (pair)
