    B&W M-1 Bookshelf Speakers

Does anyone currently own, or had the chance to listen to the M-1's? I'm thinking of picking a pair up for surrounds. Any feedback would be much appreciated.

    Thanks!

    Blues,

They are very good little speakers. I built a 5.1 system with them for my gaming rig awhile back.

As surrounds, they would be pretty good. It depends on what it up front. But if you have no surrounds today, then these would be a pretty nice place to start.

    Hope this helps.

Glad to hear you liked them. I have 683's up front and used to have similar Polk floorstanders as surrounds, but now looking for something to save space and mount to the wall in back.

I use them as surrounds (7.1) and am quite satisfied with HT performance...and SACD is adequate. I highly recommend as long as you have good subs, and that you'll position relatively close to sweet spot. I auditioned against 685's and for the price I paid for 4 ($400) were 90% of the 685's($1200) for less than half the price so I went for it. They sound excellent for what they are but in a larger room I would think they'd leave you wanting. That said, they sound incredible and are very versatile, solidly built with ingenius cable mgmt built in for seamless aesthetics, and because they look so cool, have a very high WAF.

They would be perfect for this application

As dukester said, this is an excellent solution given your requirements. You will also benefit from better system syngery, as all 5 speakers will be B&W.

                Best CENTER for 683s?
                by Randell
I just bought a pair of 683s, which I'm loving. However, I noticed that my existing center (Athena AS-C1.2) is not really up to par. Here is the current center:

I find that the Athena sounds very directional. Like the sound is obviously coming from...

                B&W dipole vs. bookshelf as surrounds [DS3 vs 685, DS7 vs 705. DS8 vs 805]
                by videophile
Please help me decide on which surround speakers to get: DS3 or 685? I have B&W 683, HTM61, Velodyne CHT-12R, Rotel RSP-1066 and Rotel RMB-1075. [I'm sure the question can apply to DS7 vs. 705 and DS8 vs. 805]

I know that dipole speakers produce more diffused sound as compared to...

Rear Surrounds-Wall mounted Bookshelf Speakers-Sound Quality?
                by Russ L
Does anyone have wall mounted small bookshelf speakers as rear surrounds and how do they sound? I was thinking of any examples but especially the B&W DM600s. Was considering this as a solution for limited room space and can't use in-wall speakers.
                Thanks. Russ

                LCR bookshelf speaker recommendations

Looking to upgrade from my Paradigm Atom L/R and CC-170 center channel speakers. I will be keeping the Paradigm bipole/dipole surrounds and my DIY subwoofer. I have been enamored by the sound of the B&W CM5 speakers with the matching center channel, having eliminated the Paradigm Studio 20 when...

                Bookshelf Speakers ~$600
                by Prost1986
I have been looking for a set of speaker for 2ch music for my bedroom. The would be powered by a Rotel 1062 intergraded amp and a Yamaha DVD1000 for CD/SACD along with iPod and XM radio for more causal background music (to be honest XM radio sound so bad that it almost only useful for talk stations...
