Where to get new tweeters for 801?

    Hello,

I just bought used pair of B&W 801 Series 80.
Other speaker has broken (and missing) tweeter. Other is fine, but i think i need to change them both to get same sound out of them.
Problem is that B&W doesn`t have those tweeters anymore.
Is there any second hand contact, who still have those?

Tweeter model is TXS26/80. And serial number is 2777 on working tweeter.

If there is no possibilities to find original Series 80 tweeter then can i use model II or III tweeters? If so, do i need to modify crossowers? If so, how i modify?

    Regards
    Hannes

You can use the series III tweeters. They fit perfectly and the cross over was the same in terms of fr. etc.. However the sound will change slightly to a harder, more edgy top end. Some like that, some will miss the softness of the old fabric domes...

801 s3 tweeters will fit, but they are a different material and will sound brighter. A resistor in series should tone them down if you want.

I have sended e-mail around the world for different companys, but haven`t yet find the original fabric tweeter.
It starts to look like that i have to use 801 S3 tweeters.
Where i can get those for reasonable price?

It would be best for those rare speakers to use original tweeter model, but doesn`t look good

Unless you are lucky to come across some on ebay, then b&w or an official sparepart Supplier is your only option. I would start at your local b&w dealer first, before contacting b&w directly..
Remember the speaker is most likely 30 years old by now...

I have change to s3 tweeters on my serie 80.
Sounds wonderful, not bright at all.
It seems that it is a brand new tweeters.
On the label it says 6 september 2010.
