I noticed one of the diamond tweeters on my 803Ds looks like it's a bit chipped at the edge of the dome. I bought the speakers brand new, they're about a year old. I have never touched the tweeters. The tweeter sounds fine otherwise. Anybody else notice their tweeters aren't perfectly shaped? Or should I contact my dealer? Thanks.

Actually, on closer inspection, I wouldn't necessarily say it's chipped. More like the dome's edge has a small patch that's grayish and not that silver-white color. I hope I don't sound nitpicky; I did after all spend a lot of money on these speakers.- Bottom

An idea might be to take a digital pic of it (obviously with protection grille removed) and then e-mail it to B & W for their comment. You should be covered by warranty so if a replacement is required, you should have no probs.
Good luck

Got a response from Eric McBride at B&W: "Discolorations on the diamond
dome are natural. Remember that the diaphragm is made of natural Diamond
Dust so there could be slight colorations. This will not affect the
sound quality." So maybe I was just paranoid. Can it be assumed in general that the tweeter either works or it doesn't?- Bottom

by Mark_NZI was a very happy owner of 803D loudspeakers for over 3 years - so happy in fact that I ended up owning 3 pairs over that time. Long story, but in short the first pair was replaced by B&W after I discovered a relatively minor veneer flaw (huge kudos to B&W support :T ). The second pair I...-

by JonWI’m thinking up a small sized, high quality speaker project. A tweeter with a small flange would be helpful here. It looks like the much-loved D26NC55 is listed by Vifa as discontinued:

by Aussie GeoffHi,
I got my local B&W dealer to set-up an extended, private comparison between the 803D and the 802Ds... Same amp. music and room... The system was based on McIntosh 602 amps (600W a channel) with the McIntosh pre and CD player. Incidentally I liked the amp but felt that the pre...-

by kking168Hi everybody,
I'm new to this board, so this may have been asked already. What do you recommend using to clean the painted surface of the 803D tweeter housing? I used the microfibre cloth that came with the speakers and it introduced hairline scratches. The cloth was dry, no cleaning...-
