I was wondering what others think of the above combination: I have the Palladium monoblocks and wanted to get the B&W 802 Diamonds or the 802Ds. Would this be an appropriate match? I listen mainly to classical music. Thanks, ashley

The monoblocks certainly appear to deliver the power the 802's would need. I have the 802D's and drive them with the McIntosh MC402 (400 wpc). That level of power is very good for the 802's. The 802D's perform very well. Excellent bass and awesome soundstage, along with pristine detail, with air around the instruments.
So the 1K's should be quite nice.

I have the opportunity to purchase a used pair of 802's, and had recently been focusing on getting a pair of 802Ds that I had been auditioning in a B&W dealer store. I have not heard the 802s to compare.

I am in the process of purchasing a pair of 802'd speakers for STEREO ONLY listening. The rest of my system is as follows:
Amplifier: Classe CA-M200 monoblocks
Preamplifier: Aragon Aurum
I was thinking of replacing the preamp with a newwer model since mine... -

Which of you have upgraded from 802s to 802Ds?
And what differences have you heard?
