Sure that would work. 800 series, even older ones, love current. The 1092 or the 1582 would deliver very nice current. The 1092 is a beast and can drive almost anything.

A friend of mine is powering a pair of 801 Matrix with four MFA 250 watt tube amps. I second the current hungry status. He had to crank them up high enough to drop the ceiling-hook bike rack out of his garage ceiling to get the protection circuit lights to flicker-and the speakers still sounded very clean. Freakin' LOUD , but clean.Lee

As many of you, the Matrix 801 were a dream from the very beginning, when falling into Hi-Fi clutches. Years have passed and finally I could bought a pair of 801 Series II second handed (white ones), while now I also got another pair of 801 (black ones), but in Series III.... -
Many non B&W lovers really have NO idea just what a great speaker they were.
I cut the Zobel capacitor in mine, and relocated a couple crossover inductors.
I have the B&W "Van Alstine mod sheet" for the Matrix 801 series 2's if anyone needs it ?

Hi, i have a nice pair of old Matrix 801 series3 as front speakers and a pair of Matrix 802 series3 as surr. (the 801's has the B&W BassAlignmentFilter)
Ofcourse it would be ideal to find a "Matrix HTM" center to match them but it's quite impossible to find one here in Sweden,...
