What is the brand of internal wiring in the B&W 800 Series?

Does anyone know the brand of internal wiring in the 800 Series? I know they use the same cables from the 805s to the 800D. They look about 14AWG and might be a copper silver coated cable.

    Any ideas?

Heres an example from the B&W 803D:

B&W have always been using Van den Hul cables for internal usage. It is a special version of their CS122 sold as a hook up wire.

Thanks, I was told by B&W yesterday they cannot tell me the brand, but they can tell me the Tweeter/Midrange are normally copper/silver and the Woofers are copper.

I think wkhanna has a thread around here somewhere detailing the upgrades to internal wiring he's made in his speakers. If IIRC , it was very informative-and intriguing.

Is there any certain info about internal cable brand? Someone say van den hull but someone say kimber so which one is true? Also you can find b&w cdc 16 series cable is it logical to use this cable with 800 diamond series?

specifications on the wire B&W uses on its various speakers is likely company confidential information.

Replaced the lower bass element, wich was a warranty issue. 804D. I noticed the element was connected with cable shoes, it was not soldered. A bit dissapointed..

The link in post #7 does offer a solution to that. I would imagine soldering all the connections during production would add considerably to the price of new speakers.

B&W uses crimped push on terminals for serviceability... that's the only reason. Compared to soldering I'm not sure exactly the amount of difference, how to measure that would be tough to do and is probably minimal, that would be my guess. But for me soldering is a better solution.

I'm decent sure that they don't use Kimber. Van Den Hull sounds right, it's been a long time since I looked at the cable that I pulled out of those 600 series 3 speakers (which are still in use today at a friends house). If I had to do it again, I might have done a copper/silver to the mid and tweeter and plain copper to the bass drivers... I'd probably also look at Cardas, DH Labs, or JPS Labs... there's another one I'm thinking of but it's on the other laptop and I can't remember. I know WKHanna and I were talking when he upgrades his NAT P. speakers he's thinking of buying some Mapleshade Double Helix V.2 Speaker Cables to do the internals with. He's got the Golden Helix from Mapleshade and we've put those cables up against some pretty expensive speaker cables and they definitely held their own or were equal to the $$$$$$$ cables.

If you're in the mode to modify, you can get some nice results with changing it out.

                            by nick.h
Does anyone know the awg thickness of the internal wiring for the 800 series? I noticed the bi-wire connector that comes with the speakers is about 12-14awg. Is it copper? Or do they use silver?

                            by nick.h
                            Hi,

Has anyone had the internal wiring upgraded in their 800 series speakers? I know the 800D uses highend wiring, but the 803D/S and below doesn't.

Was thinking of getting all the internals done. Lex from cat cables could probally supply the wiring.

Can someone enlighten me on the differences between simple and more complex crossover circuits? What is meant by n-th order cross-overs?
