    CM9s, now which Subwoofer???

What is a nice "budget" sub I can buy to complement the CM9s?

I have seen Velodyne Micro / Mini Vee's for under $500 on Audiogon...

I'd like sub that's small, but can really round out the sound.

    Thanks,
    Sal

If you where local, I'd sell you my one year old MiniVee for $350...

I have the ASW608 ($500 new) and I have been very impressed with it. I will say the MiniVee has more range, and a little more punch then the ASW608. I took both home for a demo before I purchased the 608. They are both very good for how small they are. Either one would serve well....

        What is your budget?

SVS has a nice closed box sub. Specs are like 14 or 15 inches cubed with a 12" driver. It doesn't go quite as deep as the ported boxes, but I have heard it still sounds great.

PV1 seems like an obvious choice for your short list.

I've owned quite a few subs, and small subs are just not that good for true LFE. If you do insist on a sub with a small footprint, then I would audition the Rel T series. They are small, and quite good. I owned the T2 a while back. I have also owned a B&W PV1, and while I like B&W, their subs leave a lot to be desired. The T2 was an all around better sub than the PV1. The T1 is also an option for a few more dollars.

For the record, like you, I currently have a pair of CM9s, and I am using a JL Audio Fathom f112 sub. Having experienced the JL Audio, it's kind of hard to go backwards at this point. Of course, it's not a budget sub so i'll assume it's out of the question.
A camera, passport, good music, good food and good company is all I need.

I have a SVS that I use with my CM-7's and have been very happy with the sound. Mine does not have a small foot print, but I know they do (or at least did have smaller subs). Good luck!

Been out all day so just now am I catching up on the thread...

My budget is probably around $500 at the most. (I mentioned it to the wife, and she wasn't pleased; asked me "do we really NEED it?") I shouldn't have mentioned it. <mistake noted>

Back to topic... around $500... Maybe more if it's later in the year (my B'Day) he he he.

Ahh like I said, if you where looking for a MiniVee and where local I'd sell you mine for $350... it's barely been used. Too bad you're so far away.

Which goes with 685's better, 608 or 610 sub?
                      by PM5K
My room is pretty small, 12x15x8. I like that the 608 is smaller physically, and I'm sure power wise it's probably okay for the room size, but in terms of the quality and level of 685's, is the 608 still good or would it go more with 686's?

The biggest spec that stood out to me is that...

                      Hi All

I am a newbie and planing to get the 685 for L&R, HTM61 or 62 centre, 686 for surround. However I am not sure which subwoofer to get. my room is about 11' X 17'.

1)what is the difference between ASW608 or 610?
                      2)which would sound better?

best way to connect my ASW608 subwoofer to amp
                      by howardg
Hello, this is my first post as a new member. I want to connect my B&W ASW608 subwoofer to my NAD C326BEE integrated amp. The sub has two line-level inputs that allow it to be directly connected to an integrated amplifier. These inputs are labeled "L" and "R". The NAD has "Sub...

                      Sub upgrade?
                      by ryan.devry
I currently have one B&W asw608 subwoofer with a pair of B&W 685s. I recently moved to get closer to my work, and my listening room has doubled. Room size is 20ft long 16ft wide. I need a little more bass, mainly for movies. On music it still performs well. I just want more grunt in the action...
