B&W Sound Anchor stands, thoughts and photos

    Hi,
After a long internet search, I decided to purchase a set of Sound Anchor stands for my rear B&W 803S speakers. I’m posting these photos because during my search for plinths, I found very few good photos of the actual product I was trying to research, to include even on the SA website.

I called SA and placed the order. They were out of inventory and needed to make my stands, even so they arrived well boxed and in good shape three weeks later. The foam they were packed in was crumbly and needed to be vacuumed a little. I was shorted a few pieces of the advertised hardware, but a quick call to Sound Anchor had the missing parts to my door in no time. The finish is a black texture coat, maybe paint, but not powder coat as I know it, and will scratch off fairly easy if the stand comes in contact with something hard. The stands weighed 18.05 and 18.10 lbs respectively. The aluminum pieces are nice. I found that the SA stickers were on a little cockeyed, but easy to remove and straighten.

How do they work? Perfect! They allow me to adjust the tilt of the speakers and raised them about 3.5 inches. The speaker sits fairly solid on the stand and will wiggle only if you push on it hard. The blue dots work well. I had a little trouble getting the speakers on the stands at first. I tried lowering them on, but due to the weight, I didn’t get them on perfectly straight. The blue dots will hold the speaker where it lands, so getting them straight with the dots under them was hard. I found that putting the speaker on the stand sans dots, aligning it, then tilting it front to back, emplacing the dots then, worked much better.

Did they improve the sound? I have no idea, I don’t have a multi channel music player (yet) and I bought them specifically to get my speakers off the carpet and tilt them a little. They do that well so I’m very satisfied plus the customer service was top notch and responsive which is worth a lot.

Very Nice! I really like the gold anodized bars, matches the FST driver. I have a pair on my 803's and can attest that they do make a considerable improvement in the sound. enjoy!

Hey, great photos. I have a two channel set up with 803Ss, Mac 352 and C41. I bought the Sound Anchor stands about a year ago for them and after MUCH tweaking as far as tilt, placement, etc., find the bass tighter and a bit more soundstage due to the tilting. They sit rock solid and have never had an issue.

        Good luck with your set-up.

I bought the SA Stands for my 803S about a year ago also. It was a very good investment, and I have not regret the purchase. The mean reason was to raise my speakers off the floor and tilt them back. I also bought the center stand from SA for my HTM3S. :B

what's up with the tilting back? Did you guys hear any improvement in sound, or was this done for other reasons? If the former, how did sound change/improve?

I'm currently working on DIY stands for my 804S, so if tilting makes a significant improvement I might be able to work it in there. How much tilting was needed in your cases?

            Thanks!

I have the same speakers. How much were these?

Does the gold piece come in silver?

The pricing is on Sound Anchor's website. These run $275/pair USD. I'm not sure about pricing and shipments to Canada. Best to give them a call or send email.

PS These do work quite well. Bass is definitely tighter. Mids/highs are better defined as well, but bass is where I noticed the biggest improvement.

Anyone who has read my thread from a few weeks ago will remember me asking if anyone had Sound Anchor stands for the N802's and what their impressions were. Unfortunately, no one who read my thread had this set up as no one responded. So I went a head and purchased them blindly. Not my usual style as...

For those that have these, can you tell me the difference between the speakers on spikes on carpet/pad and the speaker on the sound anchor stands that sit on carpet/pad? Does the stands have spikes that go through the carpet?

I notice alot of people seem to have these. Is this a worthwhile...

looking for speakers stands for 804S (not Sound Anchor)
                  by tboooe
Hi, i am looking for some nice stands for 804S. Searching this board, all I see mentioned are Sound Anchor (too ugly), Soundcare (just spikes), and Skylan (dont have what I am looking for).

What I am looking for is something more elegant and less obtrusive. Please see the attached...

I was recently given a pair of Sound Anchor stands as a early Xmas gift by my wife (what a woman!) for my B&W N803,s. After installing them I noticed how much the Bass response improved over the factory spikes, the improvement was not subtle at all and I am very happy with the performance.

I have a pair of 703's, great great speakers but my one concern is how they are "Tippy" from side to side from being narrow and tall. I saw through Sound Anchor web site they have custom made stands for speakers, one being the 703. Does anyone use/have this product? Would the extra 2 or...
