    buying used

Hey guys, this is my first post, although i have been lirking for awhile. I am thinking of buying some used speakers on audiogon. They are dealer demo`s that are 2 years old and have about 450 hrs according to the dealer. He says its time to swap them out to get some new one`s in there.
Based on this info does this sound normal to you guys?

    Thanks

Its normal for dealers to sell demo equipment, and there are often good deals to be found. My experience has been that when buying demos the warranty starts from the time you buy it, and not from the time they started off as demos.

Check the seller's reputation/feedback on Audiogon (on the item for sale page, under the seller's name you'll see a "view feedback" link). Many people buy and sell on Audiogon on a regular basis. My guess would be a retailer that does it and behaves well would have several people providing feedback from a while back. If all the feedback you see is rather recent...then ask them why this is so...or just pass...

All my gears were bought used from audiogon ranging from $50-$6K and I never had any problem. The key is to go with the trust worthy seller by their feedbacks. Audiogon sets it aparts from other online classifieds because of its integrity from audiophile community, IMHO.

Audiogon, not as safe as it could be

First, let me say that I have made 12 transactions using Audiogon and have excellent feedback. All went without a hitch but, most were with local pickups. One advantage to living in such a large urban area, no problem finding local buyers or sellers.

          Venting - B&W Audiogon scam
          by dan87951
So I see a set of speakers for sale on audiogon from a new seller (0 feedback)that I want to buy and I email the seller. I get a response back and he says I was the first one to email him and that he will wait for my response until he sells to someone else. So we work out a deal and he agrees to it....

A word of warning, be very careful on Audiogon (stealing B&W pics)

So I came across this classified on rosenut CM9s for a damn nice price. What do I see? I see that some guy posted his for sale ad with a picture of my setup! I have seen this several times on ebay where people have stolen various pictures that I or others have taken, and listed auctions passing off...

          DEATHLY.

My, my, what a waste of Geoffrey Rushs' talent. This biopic from HBO tries to be something original but ends up falling flat on its face. For one thing it spends most of its two hours concentrating on Peter Sellers' obsession with acting. He so loses himself in a role that he...

Buying RSP-1066 from Audiogon - Customs issues?
          by griddall
          Hi all
I have been looking for a used RSP-1066 (or possible an RSX-1055) in Canada but have not had much luck. I often see them forsale on Audiogon, but I am unsure what would happen when the owner tried to ship it to Canada. Have any of you Canadians out there purchased anything from Audiogon,...
