The 800D's have been out for almost 4 years now, has anyone heard any facts or rumblings of a new model coming out in the near future?

I am not willing to bet on that.
Diamond midrange units will be very expensive.
Most important, the yellow kevlar midrange unit is a very powerfull tool for the B&W marketing dept. I can not even imagine the 800 series without the kevlar unit. :E- Bottom

I remember reading that the engineers wanted to use aluminum for the mid's in the current series, and marketing over-ruled them...Originally posted by multivacI am not willing to bet on that.

Yes, I agree totally. I very much doubt diamond mid-ranges will be part of the next 800 series. Not only because they will be prohibitively expensive, but I'm not sure how B&W would be able to keep consistency with the current 800 designs with a 2-2.5 inch driver, which is the size of the current diamond mid-ranges. Any larger and they will be much more difficult to manufacture and therefore even more prohibitively expensive.Originally posted by multivacI am not willing to bet on that.

Perhaps B&W might introduce diamond mid-ranges on an entirely new speaker, perhaps as replacement for the flagship Nautilus, but they have kept the 800 series somewhat consistent in design for nearly decades now so I would find it very surprising if they deviated in the next 800 series from the 6 inch mid-range.- Bottom

by MikeSI was really into audio gear in the 1970s (yes, I'm old) and was able to try many tube components of the era from Marantz, Mac, early ARC and more. My last set-up was a Marantz 8B amp (fantastic highs), Mac C22 pre-amp (good highs, mediocre bass) with 15" JBL woofers, Altec drivers/horns and ElectroVoice...-

by RelentlessI check out Higherfi.com often to see things I will never afford, but they have heard some of the most expensive speakers made and they have a section where they rate the speakers they have listened to. The 800D has a B- grade and I think the best rating they gave to a speaker is a B. They have comments...-

by nick.hHi,
I have noticed the 804s/803s/803d/802d/801d/800d all use the 150mm (6”) Kevlar cone FST midrange driver. Are the crossover for this all set to be the same? Do they all run in the same range?
What about the 805s the 6.5" Kevlar, what frequency does it run at?...-
