Slight buzz noise on 805s tweeters while idle

When the speakers are just on without any sound both tweeters I hear a slight buzz noise when I put my ear next to them... but the new htm4's tweeter doesnt have this sound.. what could cause this to happen??

Update: just found out that it only makes that slight buzz noise when the main volume is on very low.. near off.. is this normal?

    What amp are you using?
Is it the same amp for the mains and center?

      HI,
This could be caused by any component in the chain. You need to start unplugging things in a very systematic way. Don't forget to turn off power while unplugging/plugging then turn back on for the test.

When you say that the noise occurs only when the volume is very low, is there any program material being played at the same time? If so then the program could easily mask the noise.

I can't say much more without specific details about your system. Even then troubleshooting over the internet is very difficult.

        Start with the freezer!
Freezers are not just ice makers also they are great line noise makers!

A little noise out of tweeters when you place your ear close is not uncommon.
Strange you only hear it from L&R but not center. Did you have a two channel source connected when you listened? If so, I'd suspect the noise is coming from that source.

Does the volume of the noise change when you change sources (but still have nothing playing?)

Slight buzz, with volume knob only on low (assuming nothing playing) could be something wrong with the volume control on the amp.

I don't think I've ever heard a system that had absolutely NO noise. If I can't hear it from 6" in a quite room I don't worry or think about it - even a tiny music signal will overwhelm the noise. But I don't often stick my ear up to the tweater, so, maybe some systems really are dead quite.

Didn't change any lamps over to the new energy efficient model bulbs from the old standard light bulb ? I did that wreaked holy terror in my system from as far away as the bedroom, went back to normal light bulbs. No Problems.

I have a rotel ra-985bx as the amp This is where my R+L is connected to and the processor is the yamaha v861, where my center piece is connected.

I've tried connecting the R+L onto the yamaha itself but in low volume still has that soft buzz noise... Also changed the source, tuner or connected to the computer same thing with the soft buzz noise.. Actually just listened to it instead of a buzz its more of a static noise but only on the R+L of the 805s and none coming from the center piece...

even with the volume up high with no music playing I hear the hiss noise from the center piece like it should but the R+L has the static noise along with the hiss...

Update: now when the R+L is only connected to the rotel without the rotel being connected to the yamaha the static noise disappears...

Tuner and computer can both be noisy - and they are both probably 2 channel sources.
What happens when you choose an unused source on the yamaha?

When I choose another source such as cd (nothing hooked up) the R+L still has a bit static noise from the tweeters.

You might try disconnecting all inputs to the yamaha to see if one of them is causing the noise. I'd try the computer input first.

I had a low but audible buzz in my system as well, thought it was my power quality at first and that maybe I just never noticed it.

I accidentally determined the culprit a few weeks later, a 400watt halogen torch lamp (the ones you get for $30 at walmart). The lamp had 2 power settings, I typically left it on the lower setting and for some reason that caused the amp to buzz. The higher setting produced no noise.

So if you have any of these lamp in the same circuit try turning them off.

If you have the means, everyone should have a dedicated 15-20 AMP circuit for the audio system.

I've also heard good things about RGPC products such as the 400/600. I'd like to try one at some point but I got too many other upgrades to finance first. They can be had for little cost on the used market though.

Hi! My new RSP-1066 produce a heavy noise/buzz in rear channels when the Processor is in use. The noise follow the volume and when volume is set in zero, its no noise or buzz. When I'm playing in analog mode, as in SACD 5.1, DVD-Audio 5.1, 2.0 & in ordinary Stereo mode there is no noise what so...

Is it possible that JC1's are producing a small amout of buzz/hiss in speakers when volume is all the way down? I have everything hooked up to HTPS 7000 sig. series conditioner. But still getting a slight amount of noise. Buzz not audible at 5 feet. Is it normal to always have some noise in speakers...

I'm still in the first few days with my 1068 and 1075. I'm trying to get used to the pop that comes with switching inputs and as the digital inputs switch over (that's really the most annoying one, it pops every time I fast forward a DVD, because it loses the digital signal)

                              Anyway, I've...

I just noticed my B&K Reference 200.5 series two amp puts out a low volume buzz from all five of my speakers. You have to be within about three feet of the speakers to hear it. It is independant of the volume control on my preamp and is still present if all my gear is off except the amp (so it is...

Does anyone experience a slight him from the tweeters when using the rmb1585?

I have a slight hum with no audio coming through..I've tried disconnecting all the interconnects and the trigger. The amp is plugged into a Tripp Lite Lc1200 and I've tried plugging it in directly to the wall....
