DIY Subwoofer...how to match Red Cherry

OK here's a challenge for you guys. I have the N803 fronts and an HTM1 center all in the older Red Cherry color. They sound wonderful and look gorgeous.

However, I want to construct my own subwoofer, wrap them in cherry veneer, and stain them. Has anybody come up with the magical mixture of stain to match the Red Cherry from B&W?

Forgive me if this has come up before and I just overlooked the post. I couldn't seem to find anything quite like this.

    Thanks,
    Mike

Bombay Mahogany stain from Minwax is an excellent match on Red Oak. Last I used it, it was only available in the line that had the poly built in. Not sure how it would turn out on cherry wood though.

      Kevin,
Great feedback. I'll experiment with that stain on a scrap piece of cherry. It doesn't have to match perfectly (I'm not that persnickety), but it would be nice to have it in the same color group. I'm worried that a DIY subwoofer may not live up to the same great looks and craftmanship as the B&W speakers.

      Thanks for the info.

Here's a pic of a poster case I did. Let me know how it does on cherry.

Any tips/hints, besides try and try again? :B

I've got a Zaph ZDT 3.5 center channel, its almost complete but I'm having a hard time getting the stain to match the cabinet my T.V. sits on.

The T.V. cabinet is white ash, and the stain color is difficult to describe - it...

What would match 802D mains as surrounds better, 802N or 805s?

What would match sonically 802D mains as surrounds better, 802N or 805S (not 805n)?

(HTM2D center and JL Audio F113 sub, ssp-800, classe CA-5200)

First for movies and then for 5 channel stereo.

The room is fairly large and open.

          Also how close...

Ok, so I buy a pair of used N802's. They are supposed to be "light" colored cherrywood. Now I'm trying to negotiate for a HTM1. The description of this is "natural". I went to the B&W site for clarification and found this desription -

Has anyone successfully restained the veneer on their B&W speakers and gotten them to look like showroom condition?

I purchased B&W an HTM4S and two 804S in natural cherry and am in love with these speakers sonically but feel that I made the wrong choice when picking the color....

Looking for a dark red stained cabinet...Can I see yours?
          by probillygun
I'm in the process of picking a stain color for my cabinets and was hoping to see what some of the darker reddish color stains look like on some actual speaker cabinets with drivers mounted.

I would like to see hi resolution shots of DIY cabinets if possible....

          Hoping...
