    804 going to 802's?

If I am doing 90% for home theater/movies, would anyone step up to 802 fronts? Currently using 804's.

And would you use the 804's for rears or sides in a 7.1 configuration? (if I went with 802's)

I have 1 sub upfront and 2 subs on the side for Bass Enhancement thru my Lexicon MC-1. The (The MC-1 is being replaced in the fall by an unknown preamp). Room is 13 feet by 13 feet

I would keep my Sunfire Grand Signature amps (have 3 of them)

Are you referring just to the 802's replacing the 804's or are you referring to the 7.3 setup?

I would think that the 804's are outstanding in a room that small.

Ok, then lets say my end goal is still to do a 7.1 system, keeping my 804's in front. My front sub and 2 rear subs in the same place they are now.

Currently I am using ceiling mounted Speakercraft direct radiating for my sides and B&W ceiling (dipoles) for the rear channels.

Would you go with 4 805's (rears and sides)? Would you go with something smaller?

I'd have to recommend the wall-mounted SCMS. My room is even a bit longer than yours (13W x 17D) and I'm using SCMS surrounds with 805S/HTM4S in the front in a 5.1 setup. To me, this is more than enough for a room this size.

My back wall behind the couch are electronic blinds and glass..no room to wall mount anything (SCMS) but right below the ceiling and that seems no better than the ceiling mounted ones I have right now.

Now I could try to put the SCMS on stands??

                    I'm keeping the 804's upfront.

Maybe use 2 805's on the side (as more information typically is coming from the sides?) and use maybe some type of smaller speakers or 705's in the rear?

For 90% HT the 804S' are fine. A step up to the 802's could only be for Stereo.

I have both speakers and use the 802's for left and right front. But I am considering separating the 2 systems if I move houses.

In that scenario the 802's would be the stereo system and the 804's would be the front left and right with 805's in the rear. For me the MOST important speaker in a HT is the CENTER as most of the information and talking come from the center, so I have the htm2D.

Unless you've got unimited funds and can do 802's all around the 804's will be outstanding in a HT IMHO

Which is more important: The sides or rear speakers?

Assume I am using a Toshiba HD-DVD, playing Dolby TruHD, playing a TruHD disk. I am splitting the side signal with anything below 50 hz going to the side subs. I have a Lexicon MC-1 but will be upgrading soon to a preamp compatible with all the new technologies

I have a choice, if it makes sense. I could either buy 4 805's *or* 2 805's and 2 705's *or* 4 705's *or* I am actually also considering 4 Gallo speakers for sides and rears (www.roundsound.com)

                        decisions, decisions...

I have a desire to go to a 7.2 setup with currently comprising 803S mains HTM3S center and SCMS rear surrounds as well as a velodyne DD15 sub and Cambridge soundworks sub. I just picked up over Christmas holiday the Pioneer Elite Rcvr 94 and BD95 Elite Bluray disc player so I can hear the latest surround...

                          by someet
The new 804 diamonds are more expensive than the 804S. Difference in price may be lesser on audiogon etc. Is it worth the difference. Would love to hear from people who have experienced both.

                          Thanks

                          Hi,

As you can see I am pretty new here, but not new to B&W speakers since I owned a couple of these (p6, 601s3). I also listend (dreweled) enough at the 804/802/800 in my audio shops. Since i didnt feel the 804 was worth the investment over my old p6 I never got them.
