    question about 800 series line

I know there's the "D", "S", and "natilus". I know what's the difference between the "D" and "S", but what's the difference between the "Natilus" from the others? Is the "Natilus" an over version of the "S" or.... Then there's the 802s, did that get replaced by the 802D and then the 802 technology just get filtered down to the 803S and so on? I'm pretty lost, anyone that can help me get things sorted I'd really appreciate it. Thanks

To clarify my question, I'm trying to figure out how the 800 series progressed.

Nautilus is the previous version. The new 800 series, which include D and S, have different tweeters, different crossovers. They sound different. You can actually go to www.bw800.com and they have a short history talking about the progress of the new 800 series.

      In a nut shell: :Z

N 800 series are the old version that are discontinued ,and the S came before the D ,and are the signature version ,while the D has diamond tweeters and crossovers are different in the drivers of both the N, S and D versions.

All are good: If it is from B&W then it is good!! :T

      Cheers

I can't seem to find this short history in the link you directed me to. I just see a bunch of short interviews.

Actually, I think there is some confustion.

The Nautilus series came out first. Denoted as "N80x"....('97-'04 I think...)

Next was the signature 800 and 805 denoted as "S805" or "S800" ('99-'04 I think...)

Next was the upgrade to the entire nautilus line (the now current line) and is denoted as "805S", "804S", and "803S". Also current is the diamond series available in the 803 and up. Denoted as "803D", "802D", "801D", and "800D". ('05-present)

Before that was the Martrix series I, II, and III.

The difference between the "N" and the newest "S" and "D" is they went to a brand new first order crossover and also chose new drivers for for the midrange, tweeter, and woofers. The cabinet changed only slightly.

As an example, I've had both the signature 805 and the newer 805S. THey sounded very similar. But, I prefer the sound of the signature 805 over the 805S. I know that not everyone agrees with me.

            Pretty much correct.

First series was Matrix I, II & III.
Next was the Matrix 800-805 series and Silver Signature (25th Anniversary Bookshelf SS25 & Floorstander SS30).
            Then Nautilus 800-805 and Signature 800 & 805.
and now the current 803-805 S and 800-803 Diamond (replacing the Nautilus and Signature).

This of course doesnt include the Prestige.
            First was the Horn (Emphasis),
            then the Shell (Nautilus)
and now the white Trash Can (40th Anniversary Signature Diamond).

              I believe the current "S" is available as the 805S, 804S and 803S; the "D" designation goes to the 803D, 802D, 801D and 800D....

                Wow!
I kinda like that, "The white trash can"

I'll make you a bet (okay)
In 5 years the trash can will be worth more than it sells for at retail...

140 qty. available in US market... (Yikes!)

                I see a sales blitz...

Over the weekend, I visited a B&W dealer who also carried Macintosh and other high-end equipment. They had many things on display, including several of the 800 series B&W speakers.

I mentioned to the salesman that I have B&W 802D's and the HTM2D (center channel), which...

                  Pooling time,

Which color do you like best for your 800 series? Black, Red Cherry, Cherry or Rosenut.

Since the new Rosenut color quite different than the old Red Cherry I post this as two different color.

Looking through the pictures of everyones set-ups I was wondering how the 800 family divided out, i.e. what percentage of owners own what. So, if you are a 800 series owner (any generation) please chime in as to what you own. If you own 2 different ones multiple choice is allowed

                  Hi Guy's

I have seen all your discussion regarding the new 800 series II. Just wanted to give you a few pointers regarding the old & the new 800 series.

The factory has stopped making 800 series I, about two months ago there will be very little stock of this in your...

How does everyone feel about the finish options of the 800 series? Rosenut is gorgeous but quite difficult to match. Cherry is nice, but if you have dark wood or walnut furniture (as many do), it clashes. Personally, I love the color of walnut and wish the new 800 series came in a walnut veneer....
