    Cooling for a B&W ASW 300 Sub...

What is the best way to keep a B&W ASW 300 Sub cool? Currently I have in the corner of my room.

    Thanks

RH you should not have to do anything just make sure that it has enough room for air to circulate around it, if its overheating you have a problem that you should have looked at,......... or you are cranking Blessed Hell Ride too loud. :-y :-y :-y

Well it overheated when I was playing some Chemical Brother's "Response" aka bass test,at half volume, but there is so much constant low bass that is probaly why. I can crank it with anything else BLS, Rush, ect. I just wanted to know what would be the best way to keep cool. Also I have a temp gun, what is a good temp for the heatsink to be at. I mesured 135 F, either that or the bass filter kicked in not sure. Oh, forgot to say thanks on the BLS logo, they kick a**.

Hmmm, I dont know, I have never had a sub amp shut down before like that, I dont know what the temp should be. how are your levels set, maybe they are set a little to hot.

Well I have the amp set at the 9 o'clock position, but have my Yamaha RX-V530 set to -8db for the sub.

And well it really did not shut off, it cut off and back on that one song, but is was only on the really hard low low bass part, and only that one song.

Wow... are you serious? I would think open air cooling would be sufficient. Time to get a Velodyne. lol Before getting yourself all worked up over this, contact B&W and makes sure this is normal behavior.

I figured it out, and do I feel like an idiot, the cable on the sub was not hooked up all the way. As for velodyne, I'm not a fan ,this sub is the best I have heard. Also I will be posing pics of my setup soon on the setup thread.

                  Thanks

Hey there customs - if your sub amplifier fins are getting too hot - then you need a bigger sub my friend.

I have the ASW850 and play it REALLY LOUD sometines and the fins on the amp are only just warm.

Time for an upgrade methinks ! !

What happened is that I moved my sub and the cable was hardly connected and the vibration was cutting the signal on and off. I made sure the cable was firmly secure, and played the same song again. And well the problem is non existent, so I cranked it even louder and it ran perfect. I guess I found out you should always make sure the sub cable is firmly seated.

                      Thanks

                            HI rh,
Good deal. The most common problem with my customers equipment was bad cable connections. Next were switches in the wrong position.
