    Problem with ASW-855

My subwoofer suddenly begun making a strange noise like if there was thunder in it.I never play very loud. When I unconnect the input signal, and just put 220V, by slowly turning the volume up the noise starts and becomes louder when turning the volume up on the sub.
Already in the beginning I found it very strange that when my refridgerator or some other electric equippement turned on, I always had a click in the sub, not in my other speakers, and I even tried connecting the sub on an other 220V contact, it remained the same problem.

    Jerico,

If it is making the noise with no inputs then it sounds like either a faulty sub or very noisy mains power... Most likely a faulty sub though... See your dealer...

Exploring Common DIY Terminology - Signal-to-Noise Ratio (SNR)

      Signal-to-Noise Ratio (SNR)

The signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) is an important parameter that helps evaluate the performance and quality of the audio output. In the context of audio, SNR refers specifically to the ratio of the desired audio signal (the sound produced by the loudspeaker driver) to the background noise generated by the speaker itself or the overall system.

The formula to calculate SNR in decibels is:

      SNR (dB) = 10⋅log⁡10(PowerSignal/PowerNoise)

      Faulty Jamo 6510sub
      by directitstore
Bought this $900+ dollar sub as part of the Jamo PDD.5 system from Harvey Norman, Auburn, Aust only a month or so ago.

Anyway, while watching the T.V (on a low power level) this loud buzzing noise was apparent, with no bass sound output just this LOUD buzzing noise.

      After...

Curious about a "ticking" noise coming from my receiver
      by Ovation
I have an Integra DTR 6.4. I came across a forum that mentions a "ticking problem" with certain Onkyo/Integra receivers after I bought it. I had one incident of a strange digital feedback noise that I believe was caused by a faulty connection. Since setting up in my new house (for about...

      Which SUB for my B&W?
      by specialized
Im trying to decide which way to go.. There is only one B&W ASW855 left on stock, and there is no chance to order other one.. It's cherry (my other speakers are rosenut), but if its good sub match to my setup then maybe i'll go for it.. Other option is to order PV1 (i plan two of them).

      ASW855 Appears...
      by Aussie Geoff
      Hi,

Dealers (inlcuding mine) have started to recieve shipments of the ASW855 sub and B&Ws web-site has been updated to delete the previously announced ASW865 and ASW875 subs... Interesting - as spec-wise the ASW855 seems awefully like the proposed ASW865...
