Option 3 (synergy between the three front speakers is essential. The 703 doesn't match the HTM7 and neither does the 805S).

However, since you have the PB12Plus/2 (wow!) and it's for 75% HT, why not consider four 705's + a HTM7?

I have your option 1 with a ASW 700 sub driven by a Denon AVR 3806 and a Denon DVD 3910. Fits my needs very well 50/50 music/movies. The 703s sound very good in two chanel modes some thing you can not get from a 705 by them selves. Although when we had some work on the house I used the 705/sub compination and the sound was superior to many other similiary priced systems.

I think it all depends on how that 25% devoted to music is spent...do you:

          (a) Pop in a cd, sit in the sweet spot and listen to the music critically?
          (b) Pop in a cd, sit in the sweet spot and read your paper?
          (c) Pop in a cd, get up and go do some work around the house?

If your answer is either (b) or (c) then I would probably with option 3 or option 4 (705 based setup).

If you answered (a) then I'd probably go with option 1

2 CH music is not an important factor for me. But 5 CH DVD music is. Such as the Eagles or Sarah Mcglaglin.LOL (spelled wrong). Movies are important. I would rather overkill than underkill but still get the best for my dollar. the WAF is getting lower and lower everytime I upgrade

              B&W
              XT4 front
              XT 2 rare
              XTC center

              $5,900
The WAF on this is high. This is a sleeper, keeps getting overlooked.
It's new and not all dealers have it. Give it a listen if you can.

I actually compared all the ranges yesterday to help a friend, and here is what I recommend:

                HTM4s
                805s all round.
Lists at 7500 but your can probably cut a deal at around 7k. To me, the 800 series sound is simply incredible, and nothing else comes close. The fact that you have a great sub and amp, should help with the bass dept.

OK things are getting confusing now with all of the comparisons. I wish I had a dealership to try out the differances myself but they only have the 805's the 803D's and the 704's.
But I have narrowed it down some more. 70% movie and DVD audio 30% music
When listening to 2 CH music I always use a Sub

                    Option 1
                    Buy New
                    805 mains
                    805 rears
                    HTM4 or HTM3 centre

                    Option 2
                    Buy Used
                    804S mains
                    HTM3
use my existent rears now and wait a year and get the 805's for rears

How does the HTM3 match up with the 805's. I really like this centre and it would fit perfectly with my set-up and can my 1056 power the rear 805's until I purchase a 2BSST

Also, if I do purchses the 805 set-up, do these speakers have trouble filling a large room. I like having my music up a bit at times and these are only bookshelf speakers.

Does the old HTM1 compare to the new HTM3. I cant do an A/B comparison and my dealer only has the old HTM1. Will this match well with the 805's

Also I have just spent a few hours just listening to the 805's in 2 Ch. Excellent sounding. This is definately my choice for Mains in my system. Now for the centre. ???

I used 603's with my 804's and htm1 (nautilus) and it worked out fine until I could afford to upgrade the rear speakers.
I'm just sittin here watchin the wheels go round and round...

I have a pair of the 805s with an HTM3s and an asw675 sub. Both the front and center are set to the 'small' setting on my receiver. In my humble opinion, they match up extremely well. I will either purchase a pair of 804's or another pair of 805's (once I move into a home) for left / right rear duty. For now, I absolutely love my current set up.
