For those who went from 600s to 800s

Hi there lucky ones. I was just wondering. A lot of people here went from 6s to 8s. Though, they claimed to have loved their 6s. Therefore why the change? Is it like any drug, you start off small and hit the bigger stuff. Is it a natural consumer action: always go bigger? Finally, and true honesty would be appreciated, is it 'cause the sound is really that much better and consequently deserving an extra 5ks or more in investments? I personally like the compactness of the 805s. They look sweet. Never heard them yet. I will be receiving 604s next week.

Cheers and have a good one

I've had 604's for several years and enjoyed them. They're great sounding speakers at a great price. I still have them in my upstairs bonus room and plan on them being the centerpieces of my HT system that I'm going to install there. However, they are among B&W's entry level floorstanders and do have their limitations. For me that limitation was 2-channel music, especially at moderate volume levels. They just didn't fill the room enough with sound unless you really cranked them up. Maybe it was the room they were in which had very high ceilings.
At any rate, they're darn good speakers. I didn't plan on buying 803D speakers when I started looking around for an upgrade, but (to me) they had a sound that was substantially better than anything else I demo-ed. As to whether they're worth the extra money or not, well that's up to the individual and his/her bank account. 802D's were out of my price range. And lets face facts---money has a lot to do with it. If not, we'd all have 800D's and be driving Porsches and Lamborgini's....
Addiction/obsession? Maybe, but it's fun whatever you want to call it!
And the natural progression of any hobby or interest is to start with entry level basics and move up to something more elite or sophisticated.
As a golfer you're going to probably start out with an inexpensive set of convenience store clubs, but if you stick with it long enough and really want to improve sooner or later you'll be testing out those Pings or Callaway's.
A mustang is a car you can have fun with and be very satisfied owning but how bout that new Shelby CS6? Same thing with the 6's vs. the 8's.
    Relax and enjoy your 604's!!!

I went from B&W 602's ->CDM -> Nautilus 803's and I beleive the Nautilus line is a good improvement over the 600 line depending on what your tastes are and what you listen to.

                      Should I keep 600s/exchange for 602s?
                      by BlazeMaster
Hi, everyone I just got my 600s almost 2 weeks ago, and am thinking about exchanging the 600s for 602s. I can then put the 602s in front to match the LCR600 better and keep my 601s that I have as fronts right now and then use them for surrounds. The price difference would only be about $300. The...

I just got 604s today. I tried, and compared them at the dealership and found their sound to be perfect for my pocket range. So they arrived today and sound great, but OMG are they huge! I've been comparing the dimensions with the other series and these are...

                      Entry level tube/valve amp advice
                      by pedro77
                      Hi

I'm interested in getting a tube amp and was hoping someone here may have listened to a couple of the amps I'm considering. I basically got interested when I read some rave reviews about the great value of the Miniwatt S1, which has since been superseded by the N3.
