The saga is over!! Finally got my 804S

As some of you know, I recently had a serious issue with my new 804S being badly damaged by UPS during shipment to my house. Unfortunately, no one (dealer or UPS) wanted to take responsibility so I was left to fend for myself, not to mention a pair of useless and rather expensive speakers. After calls to my credit company, B&W, UPS, and the dealer I was finally able to get things sorted out. My dealer finally decided to order me new speakers which I picked up yesterday (after a 9 hour round trip drive). So after almost 2 months when I originally ordered my speakers, I am finally back to enjoying music!

I must say that the music sounded very good even though the speakers and my amp are both not broken in yet. This is due more to the fact that I was forced to listen to my small dm601s3 bedroom speakers for the past month and a half.

I want to thank everyone for their input and support. It was a very frustrating experience which at times seemed would never resolve itself. Its nice to be back enjoying this addiction we call a hobby. Now I can focus my attention to thinking about the next upgrade...hmmmm a tube preamp sounds good!

That's great. I hope all goes well for you from this point on. From reading all your posts, I think you have been thru enough. Remember that I still have the baseball bat if you need it.

Sounds like the Homer Simpson episode where he bought Marge a bowling ball with his name on it.

All's Well That Ends Well then............

That's good news Tommy. I'm very pleased for you. Are the 804S everything you hoped they would be?

We are all waiting to know if your new 804S's have helped to alleviate the aggravation and delays you went through in achieving this upgrade.

                  I hope so.

                    gostan:

I am very pleased with the 804S compared to the 805S i had. Right now I am trying to work on speaker positioning in order to optimize the sound.

in retrospect, the ordeal was worth it but I do not want to go through this again. now I can focus on my next upgrade!

                        Great Tboooe,

I am happy it all went well in the end.

You know, I had pretty much the same experince as you when I ordered a subwoofer delivered by Swedish postal service. When I received the box I immediately noticed it was damaged but I had to sign for the box in order to be able to inspect it. Luckily for me, it turned out that they had sent me a subwoofer in Oak instead of Cherry, which I had ordered. Only problem was that I had to return the faulty unit myself because the box was so damaged that no carrier would accept it. During the process i learnt that Swedish postal service require any goods to be protected by one ouyter box AND an inner box. It was not enough with an outer box and styrofoam protectment at the top and bottom. I know a few loudspeakers fulfilling those requirements but most I know of do not. My 803S's would not fulfill those requirements ......

Anyway, I hope you will enjoy your new 804S's, I had these at home for a try out and I think they are excellent speakers. Congratulations.

As some of you know, I have been waiting to receive my new 804S speakers. After 2 weeks they finally came. Unfortunately, that is also the bad news. Right away I noticed the boxes were in pretty bad shape! One of the speakers had substantial cosmetic damage behind the speaker grill. It looks like...

I purchased a pair of used 804s on audiogon last week. The shipper decided to go with UPS ground. While I waited for the UPS truck to come the seller called me and told me the htm3s that he sold was damaged by UPS. He said the tweeter was pushed in and they left the package out in the rain. After that...

                          Hi All,

Just wanted to share my latest experience.

I'm a B&W 804s owner for 1.5 year. Hooked them up from the beginning with Arcam (because at first I wanted to integrate stereo and ht in one system). So I started with the AVR300 and changed them for A90 and P90 bi-amp...

So, I'm sitting on my couch in stereo bliss listening to Bonnie Raitt serenade me on my 803D's when a little voice in the back of my head asks me what I can do to make them sound "just a little bit better". It's then that I get the proverbial wild hair and decide to take the plunge into...
