What is the best way to connect a sub to a 2-channel audio system driven by separate pre and power amps?
The user manual for the ASW650 advises connecting the sub to the output of the preamp because “best results are obtained if the satellite speakers are run full range as normal directly from the power amplifier”.
However other ASW manuals state that the output of the preamp should be connected to the input of the sub, and the output of the sub should be connected to the input of the power amp, “enabling the sub to limit the bass energy fed to the satellite speakers”.
Which is right? The second option makes more sense to me. Did B&W make a mistake in the 650 manual? What do you think?
