Hello folks.
Today, one of our moderators quit. It came at a most inopportune time for me today, as I was mentally down and out already relating to my day job. I just didn't need this today.
Today, I was shell shocked yet again by the Director that has proved to be a thorn in my side for just over a year. First as a team leader, now as the guy with ultimate authority. I slammed his door loudly when I left the office today. It wasn't pretty. Fact is, I almost walked for good. But opted to take a week's vacation next week, before being yet again jerked around. This time though, at least to a team leader that appreciates my talents and likes me.
But that's not what this is about really. It was brought to my attention that what is read as a near constant mention of CAT Cables seems to offend some people here at HTGuide. Even my making a damn joke about it. I ask you, is this really worth leaving a forum over?
I would like to remind each of you, that each forum has it's hot buttons. Things that are discussed frequently, and almost ALL the forums have a cable company that seems to be thrust at folks day in and day out. Some may have hidden agendas. We really don't at HTGuide. Yes, I own part of htguide, and all of CATCables.com. Is that really so bad? Can't there be good that comes out of such a relationship without me having to wear kid gloves all the time worried about being politically correct, so as not to offend the masses with my casual mention of CAT?
Do, I really do that here? YES, AT FIRST, I DID TALK A LOT ABOUT CATS That was the first couple of months CAT was in business. Hell, folks, I was excited! I thought I was doing something good for the audio video community and sharing it with you. Is it all just about personal greed and wealth though? Tell me, those that know me, is that what CAT is all about? How much money do you think I have really made here? Any? CAT is about the pride of doing something from nothing, creating something that might be appreciated by at least a few, maybe even put on a pedastal by some. A legacy, something I did, that nobody else did. Something original, something significant.
But actually, as of the last few months there's been little talk of CAT, except a few announcements by me. Yet, yesterday or day before, I threw out a casual statement, a joke, that's seen as the straw that broke the camel's back by one, maybe more.
I am really looking for answers here folks. I am open to suggestions. Are we really so sensitive, that we can't enjoy watching a company grow from nothing, and maybe, just maybe become something? Are there not lessons to be learned from discussing the inside of an audio video business? I gave you guys glimpses of prototypes, explained why I do some things the way I do, and tried to involve you. Maybe that was the wrong choice. I don't know.
I just know I had to speak up, and tell you how I feel, before everyone leaves the forum because of CAT. But if they do that? Well, CAT goes on. CAT is not going anywhere, and neither am I. So, I guess if that offends you, there's only 2 choices. Get over it, or go somewhere else.
There I said it, now I will never say it again.
