    Name that CAT

It's pretty hard to outdo yourself with a great product like the Silvercat. But, alas, I give you, the Silvercat Xcess. Ok, that name is still in flux a bit, aren't they always? lol. But I think you will agree, this is one awesome looking set of CATs!!!

Since it shares so much with Silvercat as a design, I considered a derivation of the Silvercat name such as the Silvercat Xcess, Silvercat Supreme, Silvercat Ultra, Super Silvercat, Xtreme Silvercat, etc... More suggestions welcome!

The fact is, the Silvercat is beginning to become a "known" name. So, identifying with that, is probably a good thing. This is pure high end. If you have to ask how much, then it's not the cable for you. Ok, maybe that's a little Xtreme, but not much. It's not available on the site yet and when it is, it's a custom order, at least initially, meaning around a 2 week delay on shipment.

The connectors alone retail for 140.00 a set of 4 on the WBT website and the wire has over twice the number of strands of the Silvercats. They are also more labor intensive than the Silvercats.

    Another pic to click.

    Thanks,

Po-ming, I had a feeling thesse might stir something deep in your soul, hehe. In fact, just after I finished them, I said to myself, I almost hate to put these on the net cause I know your gonna be wishing you had a pair, lol. (Yeah Right).

Two votes for Ultra Silvercats or Silvercats Ultra. Oh, I just thought of another good one.

Ultracats in the Silvercat Series. Or just Silver Ultracats. Topcats perhaps.

        Still hoping for input here...

Hey, Lex how's the speaker cable line coming along? I heard Chip mentioned about a biwire set but all I need is may be a 2 m pair single-wired with bananas both ends. Tell me what are my options material-wise. I can make okay 12g OFC braided cables with AR screw down banana plugs easy but just wonder is there something b/w that & the Kimber Bifocal XL's. E-mail me & we can talk.

At the mean time, keep those names coming folks.

Po-ming, we should know something end of this week, first of next week. That's when I have wire coming in. 12 gauge silver coated.

Now, bananas are still up in the air. I did contact WBT today about theirs, but they are quite expensive. I will have an affordable spade option, but hopefully a nice upscale banana as well. As far as what will the finished product look like? I haven't a clue until I get this wire in my hands and put my thinking cap on. for this project. So, we could be 2-4 weeks out to finished product, I just don't know at this point.

Chip, always, Your bi-wires will happen, patience my man!

                                      Alright Doug, questions.

For the speaker cables 12 gauge is the single cable wire bundle size with each strand made out of silver coated copper, I suppose. And would you call that a 'hybrid' speaker cable? What are you plan on using to join the wire to the terminals, same silver solder or some other mechanism given the wire size?

As for the Ultra Silver you mention it has more pure silver strands than the SilverCat but how is the strand size (per conductor) comes out as compared to the SilverCat's 21 gauge? Sorry for being nikpicking but before I would invest on those $70/pr WBT's I'd like to make sure the content keeps up. Also I figure in order for them to worth the WBTs' cost I better get the most and yet optimal cable length out of it.

                                      Thanks.

Tune in tomorrow, same time same place. Po-ming trying to strain my brain at 12:30 AM, lol.

We will address the terminations as best way possible. With WBT, they recommend crimping. With the spades I have ordered, likely solder, either WBT or my secret recipe 4%. Both good mixes.

The interconnects are 8 strand, but somewhat thinner, I have to get the AWG ratings yet. Sometimes though, thin is actually good. More silver than the 3 strand, but finer. Increases real surface area with the 8 wire count.

                                        Thats it for tonight.

Or to continue the LEX thing, how bout LEXiCat. You know, kind of like the LEXus of CatCables.

Trev, that Lexcess thing is pretty dang good too. I didn't mention it before, sorry. As you know from Jagwires, I like names that play tricks.

All good ideas, still pondering, and no time to get on site yet anyway, lol.
