    12v Tigger Ideas

I am not sure if this the right place for this thread, but here goes. I have two or three pieces that don't have a 12v trigger but I want to find a way to trigger thier power with something. Is there a piece made that can connect to my RSP-1068 12v trigger and then plug the non-12v units into that? It is a pain to always turn on/off units, forgeting is even worse.

There's a couple of solutions for this...one is use a remote that can use discrete power codes and use macro's to opperate your gear. Another idea is to use one of power bars that has triggered outlets. There's a few of these on the market at various price points but the cheapest I know of is actually sold in Sears in the tools dept. Its intended to be used to power on.off vacuums etc with power tools so what you do is plug a triggered device into the top plug and the two bottom plugs will then power on off with that device. You could then just plug your 1068 or a power amp into the top plug and either two devices or a power strip into the bottom to do what you need. They're affordable as well which is nice as some of the A/V models are more expensive.

        Tigger? Here's Tigger, but I don't know if he's a 12v Tigger:

Oh, you meant TRIGGER, didn't ya...

Niles has some products that can be triggered either by current draw or by a 12V trigger on a pre-pro:

I purchased a small plastic instrument box, 10A relay that I supply with 12V from my Rotel RSP-1066 to operate my components that don't have the 12V trigger feature.

I use it to power up/down a rear projection TV, Active subwoofer, DVD player and MD player. Cost about $20 total to make up including the 4 way plugboard. I can send you a photo of what I made if interested. I was thinking of building something a bit more hi-tech that incorporates some sought of delay for turn on/off too.

            John.

If you've ever thought of getting a power conditioner you may want too look into the new Belkin Pure AV PF60.

If you look hard on the net you can find it with hefty discounts.

Chris, I just found the PF60 for between $300-$400 on the Froogle site. I just wish I could tell what the back panel looks like and whether or not it has switched outlets. The Niles peice Kevin suggested has what I am looking for, but the Belkin is a beautiful piece. It also has a $500,000 conected equipment warranty. I'd like to see that number hold up in a claim though.

Info on the unit can be found at Belkin

Here's a pick of the back panel.

Attached is a photo of the external 12V trigger device I made up, as you can see it is pretty simple consisting of a 10A rated relay and very simple wiring.

All you need is a 12V source from your AV reciever to trigger the relay, could even use a 12V plug pack.

Cheap way to power an amp on/off
                          by Andrew Pratt
I have two power amps one has a built in power off and on toggle that my pre amp controls but my Class A Musical Fidelity amp does not. Given the Class A design this amp is sucking a lot of current from the wall and I wished I had a way to turn it on and off without resorting to an X10 switch or some...

                          Hi all,
I recently had a new home threatre installed which consists of my current Onkyo 787 receiver acting as a processor and new Rotel RMB-1075 and RB-1070 providing the amplification for a 7.1 setup (which sounds fantasic btw). The problem being that my Onkyo doesn't have a 12 volt trigger...

                          Hi all,

I almost posted this in my other thread, but thought maybe it could use its own. A few weeks ago I picked up an iNuke 6000DSP to run my LFE channel. These amps are amazing to run subs. The extra headroom for my drivers has added a very audible benefit to my system - and the DSP...

                          Hello,

Went to turn on the RMB-1095 the other day and it would not power up. Normal start-up sequence is for the power indicator to light (blue LED) after the power switch is pushed in. Next, all five channel over-current protection indicators light (red LED) and then after a few seconds...
