    Martin Logans..Need a Receiver

    All,

I am looking for some recommendations for a HT receiver to accompany my Martin Logans. I do have a $1,000 budget and the normal HT theater requirements.

My B&K AVR202 just died recently

Thanks ahead of time for the suggestions.

    Sunzui,

I'm not aware of ANY receiver that will do justice to a pair of Martin Logan speakers... If you possibly can go listen to some separates like the Rotel RSP-1068 and matching amplifiers...

That aside - some that will do a acceptable (for a receiver) job include:

    >> Rotel RSX-1067
    >> Arcam AVR300
An cheaper but not as good:
    >> Denon 3805
    >> Yamaha RX V2400 or RX-V1400

Yeah, ML speakers, and all electrostat speakers are particularly heavy loads. You'd be served a lot better by separate amps.

I'm reminded of a time I had a pair of Infinity Kappa 7.1s with 10" woofers. I always thought they sounded pretty good with a 100 watt Rotel amp, RB-985. But then I connected a Proceed HPA-2 @ 250 watts, and WOW did those woofers come to life! Granted, it's not a like comparison comparing driver based speakers with electrostats, but you get the idea of the differences that can occur.

The only receiver I would recommend for the ML's (loosely) would be the Ultimate Receiver by Sunfire. It has a pretty powerful amp and can do a pretty good job with the ML's.

I agree though...the right separates will make the ML's sing.

I was in Seattle this past week, and just happened to see that Martin Logan was doing their US premier of their new flagship model, the CLX, at a Magnolia Hi-Fi there in Seattle. So I went, and was TOTALLY blown away by the performance. For a while now, I've thought that my next (and last) speaker...

          Martin Logan and Rotel
          by shadow
I have an opportunity for a good deal on a Rotel 1055 receiver. I use Martin Logan Aerius i, Cinema and Scenario speakers in a five channel setup. Anyone with experience with ML and Rotel? How is sound quality and power with these speakers? Thanks. PS I have posted this question on the ML Club site....

I've been using a Yamaha Rx-V3000 receiver as a processor with an MX-830 for the mains, and two old Amber Series 70 amps to drive the center and rear speakers. I'm using Martin Logan Theater and Ascents for the front.

Most of my use is for HT and DTS CD's at present, and upgrading to...

Tube Amp and Martin Logan Montage?
          by CougarCruiser
Someone on here might know this... I am currently in the process of selling a pair of Martin Logan Montage speakers. I have a prospective buyer who has asked if his tube amp can run these speakers?

I have no idea what tube amps are all about. How should I go about answering the question?...
