Hey all, I'm looking to purchase a new receiver and I thought I had one picked out, but then remembered to check on the ohms rating and power. I will admit that I don't know a whole lot about the power ratings and all that stuff, but that it can be important.
The receiver I was looking at getting was the Denon AVR-1613. I don't need 7.1 or multiple zones or all kinds of fancy options. All I will have plugged into it is a HTPC and a PS3 (possibly satellite later on), through HDMI.
For what I have right now and how I will be using it now, I know this receiver will do just fine. But I want to also think about the future a bit because I plan to build some new speakers in the next year or two.
The Statements (or Mini's/Monitors) are what I was hoping to build actually. So I was looking and it seems they are rated for 4 ohms. Denon receivers are rated for 6ohms unless you get the higher end models, which I cannot afford. I did some searching and people say they will play 4ohm speakers.
I'm hoping you guys can give me a bit of advice on this.
Do I wait on the receiver until I can afford a high end one, or choose different speakers to build or choose a different receiver close to that price range?
Thanks...
