Can a 8 ohm rated receiver drive 6 ohm speakers?

Can a 8 ohm rated receiver drive 6 ohm speakers?

Also I've read an interesting article:

    "If you hear something of
an "8 ohm amplifier", then we think usually of 8 ohm speakers.

These are amateurs calling for help in the forums, where you are told
something wrong about the "impedance" of the power amplifier and
    about the speakers:

Will 4 ohm speakers work with an 8 ohm amplifier?
4 ohm output into 8 ohm loudspeakers
8 ohm speaker to 4 ohm channel?
4 ohm amplifier with 2 or 8 ohm subwoofer
Connecting 4 ohm Speakers to an 8 ohm Receiver
4 ohm speaker on 8 ohm amp?
    8 ohm speakers - 4 ohm amp?
Can you use 4 ohm speaker on a 8 ohm amp?
4 ohm sub to a 6 to 8 ohm amp
4 ohm speaker on 8 ohm amp?
4 ohms speakers on a 8 ohms amplifier?
Matching Speakers to Amp (4 ohm to 8 ohm)?
Can I use 8 ohms amp to 6 ohms speakers?
Can a 8 ohm speaker damage 6 ohm amp?

Most loudspeaker manufacturers recommend an amplifier with power
output equal to the speaker's "Program (Music) Power" rating or
two times (2 ×) the "Continuous (RMS) Power" rating.

All the questioners go out with a great determination from the fact that the
speaker amplifier has an output impedance of 4, 6, 8 or even 16 ohms.

Now you get a big disappointment: There are only power
amplifiers with an output impedance of much less than 0.5 ohms.
Accordingly, all questions are wrongly put.

Also can a 6 ohms rated receiver work with 4 ohm speakers?
Do you know not-so-expensive receivers which can drive 4 ohm speakers?

Need advice: Amplifier for Nautilus 802
      by zakhaku
      Hello club members

I am a newbee to the B&W fan club. I just got a pair of used Nautilus 802 for an unbelievable price. The reasons I got them were (1) They sounded awesome and (2) The price was too low to resist. There is no way I could have afforded the $4 - $5K that they actually...

can my amp drive 4 ohm speakers?

Definately a noob question here, but I am trying to determine if my Nak AV8 can handle speakers rated at 4ohms, and if so how many can it handle.

Right now I have 2 8ohm speakers attached to it, but I am considering a DIY HT project to build a new set of 4ohm main speakers (a subwoofer...

RB amps - ratings @ less than 8 ohms?
      by corysmith01
      Hi all-

This may be a really dumb question, but I just can't seem to find the answer. I'm interested in adding an amp to my set up as I'm in the process of purchasing a pair of speakers rated at 4 ohms. My receiver, a Denon 3805, is pretty beefy, but I still feel as though the speakers'...

A great site! This is my first post, and although I have been interested in stereo gear since the 1960's, my technical knowledge is limited.

I once owned two pair of KLH 9 Electrostatics driven by Marantz Model 9 amps, for those of you old enough to remember when you could get the ultimate...
