CC3 or MC1 for Center Channel?

I am going to purchase my center channel in the next couple of weeks. I was going to order the CC3 but I am wondering if I should order the MC1's and use them as a center as the image below shows? The logic behind the MC1 centers is so that the center and mains match perfectly. But then again the CC3 is a REALLY good center.

This has been argued about a lot on AVSForum and I have even argued it with Magnepan. My vote is for the CC3 but neither is ideal.

Nope. I would have to search for it as you do even though I contributed to it. There was also a comment posted about this issue that quotes from Magnepan. Good luck.

Yes, I've seen a technical argument with acoustic modeling for the reason NOT to use multiple centers. Made sense to me--but if you could use one MC1, you might solve your problem.

Thanks guys I finally did locate 4 threads on AVS regarding this same subject but the verdict seemed to be inclusive at best. I guess I will give Magnepan a ring and asked them directly. I really like the idea of the CC3 because it is designed for this very purpose.

Any idea where you saw it? I would be VERY interested in studying it because this is a hard decision.

Yes, it was a technical seminar given by Bob with Klipsch at the most recent CEDIA Expo. He used a computer modeling program that showed in a given room setup, with particular sources, how interference created nodes. He showed how pulling one center channel speaker apart into two duplicate sources created quite an acoustic mess. Very interesting. Wish I could remember how to get access to that program. (I know it's out there)

OK. Then come back here because I disagree with them, strongly.

Well, one of the guys on AVS saved me the call to Magnepan. They strongly support the two centers on either side of the screen but I am just simply not at ease with this solution because of the room nodes it excites and I am really afraid it is going to interfere with the sound from the other two MCI's I am using as mains. I think I will stick with the CC3 center. I heard it and it sounded really NICE. I am more interested in music than HT. :B

Last week, I sold my MC1 and one of my Citation 5.1 amps. My 2nd 5.1 amp is going to a friend later this month. I am replacing this wonderful combo with: DC1 version 4.0, Rogue Magnum 66 tube preamp with HT unity gain bypass, Parasound 2200II 250x2 amp, and Parasound 1205A 140x5 amp. For just a couple...

                    Hello fellow B&W lovers,

I have an older set of B&W640i mains and wish to setup a home theatre. The speakers are in pristine condition and sound good and use the larger kelvlar cones like the newer models so (unless there is a known defect or recall) would like to keep them and...

I am new here. I have read some very knowledgeable posters here and thought this is where I may get some help.

I recently bought a Lexicon MC1, then I found an Audiolab 8000M and three units of 8000P. My question is would these Amps work well with the MC1 and how should the set up be,...

I listened to the Aragon Soundstage with Smart Devices Junior 6.1 expanding yesterday for a few hours yesterday. Sound is crystal clear like others said. Subwoofer bass is very good and powerful, but so was the MC1's. DPL1 is kinda of weak, but the Hall mode is good for DSS, and sends stereo signals...
