I am debating whether or not to purchase a center channel speaker for my current setup. I am currently running DIY 3-way fronts, sonus faber walls for rear left/right/center, and a DIY aurasound subwoofer (15") in a roughly 14x18x10 living room. My main speakers are roughly 7 feet apart. I tend to use my system for an equal mix of stereo music listening and multichannel listening, whether it be SACD/DVD-A or just a good old movie. In the past I have utilized a center channel, but since moving into my house and setting up my gear, my current speaker I have been using for those duties just didn't fit in the setup. I have an extra Sonus Faber wall which I got just in case I could have room for a 7.1 setup, but didn't have enough room for stereo rear speakers. I used the sonus faber for my center for about a month and liked it very much doing center duty, but it was just an eye sore sitting out from the rest of the gear. I took it down and changed my DVD player and preamp settings to shown no center speaker usage. Something just seems to be missing now during movies. I can play around with the settings in my B&K Ref 50 some more to get the center material handled better, but I wanted to ask what everyone's recommendation was for my situation. I am considering purchasing a Martin Logan Fresco for center duties as that is the best sounding speaker that I have found to date that will fit on my stand with my TV. I just don't know if it's worth it or not. $700 isn't too bad for a pretty good sounding speaker....
