    Audio switching in/out

Hey guys, I have a question regarding the audio when I watch tv. I've got a scientific atlanta through cablevision, yamaha receiver, hooked up to a panasonic plasma monitor. Periodically(3-4x a week) I'll be watching something on hdtv and the sound will cut out for a sec and the receiver will switch from dolby digital to pro logic. This happens more often with hdtv although it has happened a couple times while watching sd channels and receiver will cycle through like it switching throught different audio(prologic-digital-etc)
It doesn't happen that often, but its a little annoying. I can't figure what the problem is. It only seems to happen when watching tv, not dvds or playing wii. Could it be the cable box?? Maybe the digital coax?
    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

You don't say how your audio is routed to the receiver. I have Cablevision HD service and they just drive me crazy sometimes with their different annoying quirks, like signal dropouts, boxes rebooting in the middle of watching a program, loss of advanced services, etc. I suspect that the cable audio signal is cutting out for a split second and the receiver is searching, trying to detect the type of signal (if your Yamaha works anything like my Onkyo receiver).

its hooked up through digital coax. If others experience it too, then maybe its not my equipment and just the service. It only happened when watching tv so I figured it was either service, cablebox, or the digital coax from the box to the receiver.

Preferred relay for switching audio sources?
              by Taito
Hi, I'm working on the design of a preamplifier at the moment and would like to know if anyone has found some really good relays for switching audio sources, or has come up with a better way to do it -at this stage, the plan is to incorporate some form of microprocessor control (which I'm pretty sure...

I am currently working on building a B&W 60X S3 series based 5.1 system. At this time a 7.1 doesn't interest me. I have the 5, just need the .1 now.

Use TV instead of Receiver for Switching?
              by paulct
I've noticed that many of the new RPTV's have a host of inputs now, handling all the right stuff. My question is, given that I still want the audio to go through my Onkyo receiver for sound, which unit should switch between the components? Seems easier to hook the DVD, Cable Box, GameCube and Raw cable...

HDMI Audio Ouput or Pass through from Receiver
              by bnieman
              Hello,

I am planning on upgrading to the RSX-1560 but have a question regarding HDMI output on receivers.

Is audio sent with the HDMI output on the receiver? If so is the audio the same as the source or does the receiver process the audio in any way (volume, surround processing,...
