    Toslink Splitter

    Hi Everyone,
I am interested to know if anyone knows if there is a toslink splitter available on the market. I use a universal player (Denon 2900) with only 1 optical output. I would like to send it to 2 components (outboard Dac, ht preamp).

I would like to avoid the coaxial output due to ground loops. I have seen 1 switchbox at Radio Shack but was hoping for something a little better. Thanks

There are others around. Just Google the term and you'll get plenty to investigate. Can't say whether or not any of them actually work better than the RS model...
There are some things which are impossible to know, but it is impossible to know which things these are. :scratchhead:

I'm not sure if another one exist though, someone else must make one too. I have used the radio shack one in my system before. I had solid results from it. No notice in sound change. And the unit functioned as advertised. No quality issues either.

Rather than a splitter, what you are talking about is technically a distribution amplifier, and if you google "toslink distribution amplifier" you will turn up dozens in many price ranges and flavors, like this $40 4 for 1 model:

            Hi Guys,
Thanks for the info and the link. I will have to do some more research. Toslink looks to be the best answer for ground loops. Thanks again.

              hdmi audio splitter

I ran into many of the hdmi issues most people face. My laptop has HDMI output, with no seperate SPDIF output port. Initially I thought I would just run the HDMI --> TV, then TOSlink to my amp. Little did I know most TV's downmixes digital signal to 2 channel.

I am happy to say that...

              A/B speaker switching/switchbox?
              by bcgator
              Hi all,

As some of you may have seen from previous posts over on the B&W speaker board, my 5.1 system consists of B&W 704's up front and 805's in the rear.

As my quickie comparison review stated, I like the 704s for certain kinds of music (rock, pop) and the 805's...

              HDMI Switchbox?
              by SiliGoose
              Hey guys,

              Long time no-see.
I'm sort of out of the whole HT thing but I have a friend just getting started. He's in need of a switchbox for feeding multiple HDMI sources to a single HDTV. He says the only models he's been able to find start at $250.

              Is there...

              Toslink to Coaxial adapters?
              by Kyle
So, I'm going to be in a "dilemma" soon.

I currently have the following devices with digital outputs:

Xbox - toslink (I still use the xbox for xbox media center)
              Xbox 360 - toslink
              Dvd player - coaxial

I'm getting a new STB that has...
