Just hooked up 2900...need SACD and DVD-A's recommendation.

I just hooked up the multichannel part of the player today and I need some recommendations on some good discs to discover multichannel music. Im going to Best Buy to get The Police Every Breath You Take Classics SACD. Anyone else got some recommendations for me?

My music genre is 80's, dance, female vocals, and a little bit of hip hop. Im still a young guy so I havent acquired a taste for classical and country(I know all the multichannel music are these). Thanks for your recommendations.

    Hmmm, dunno.

Both Bangles and Gloria Estefan's greatest hits albums are only 2-channel high-res. I have that Police album. Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon, while not your genre, is a must-have for multichannel. Then, there's Norah Jones Come Away With Me.

Will, I think I going to pickup the Norah Jones. I already have Pink Floyd and you're right it sounds wonderful in multi-channel.

        You can try the following:

        Neil Young-Harvest-DVD-A
        John Hiatt-Bring The Family-DVD-A
        Peter Gabriel-Shaking The Tree-SACD Stereo
        Blood Sweat & Tears-SACD Stereo
Kevin Mahogany-Pride & Joy-SACD Hybrid Multichannel (highly recommended).

Also, for female vocals I recently found Dar Williams, The Green World and The Beauty of The Rain on DVD-A. Aimee Mann's last two discs are also available on Mobile Fidelity SACD (fine recordings).

Forget Best Buy and go online to Acoustic Sounds for the best possible choice and selection.

Best of luck with the 2900. I have had mine for over one year and it has performed marvelously with no issues or problems.

This is an outstanding SACD. Excellent sound on both the multichannel and two track layers. (I probably don't have to say anything about the music itself.) :>) Since I have never heard Roxie Music in concert, I have no idea if they perform their music in a "surround" mode, with some instruments distrubuted around the audience's listening vantage. But that sure is the way you'll hear it on the SACD multichannel layer. (Thankfully, the main vocals and primary percussion stay anchored up front.) Of course. if you don't like it that way, you can always switch over to the two channel layer.

            Highly recommended.

Hi,How about pink floyds dark side of the moon 30th anniversary SACD?It has got amazing reviews for the multichanel mix.I know it falls a little outside of the 80's criteria but this is really sonic ear candy and it cost me the same as a standard CD from my local Walmart equivalant!
I have also heard good things about a REM greatest hits CD which will be my next purchase .I cant recall if it was DVD-A or SACD

How about Enya? Are there any multichannel music with her? I love her voice and the soothing theme of her music. Quite breathtaking.

Last night my wife and I went to see one of my favorite female vocalists, Norah Jones at the Orpheum Theater in Boston. We had very good front row, center stage balcony tickets; our seats were directly in line with where Norah sat while playing piano.

This is my attempt to compare what...

My first post. Glad to be here. I searched the forum but didn't see what I was really looking for. In general I see that in-ceiling's are not recommended, but I fear I may have no choice.
