This is going to be embarassing, 'cause it looks like I'm in a rut.

      Living Room:

      Jonatha Brooke - Steady Pull
      Jonatha Brooke - Plumb
The Story (Jonatha Brooke) - Grace in Gravity
      Arvo Part - Fratres

      Hooters - Nervous Night

I've been taking these to work for my walkman, also.

Well, I'm 31 and have decidedly less mellow musical tastes (I certainly don't mean that as a bad thing). I don't know if age is the difference as there are certainly many contributors to our taste in music.

One question: How has your taste in music changed over the years?

                                    Sili,

Hey, I grew up a hard-rocker. Ted Nugent, Aerosmith, Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, Rare Earth - you name it. That's still the heart of my collection and my favorite. But, as I've gotten older, I'm to the point that my tastes have broadened - a lot. I'll listen (and enjoy) almost ANYTHING. Lot's of alternative rock, new age, progressive jazz, vocals, classical is on the radar now. Some metal, progressive country, jazz, motown. A little big band. The few things I still won't do are folk, rap and opera.

So much music, so little time! ;h

David sounds like we share a similar history in music...though I'd replace the heavy rock with soft rock and 80's music

Well, I remember my sons rattling the walls with Deep Purple, Black Sabbath and a few other hard metalists, and I have to admit I aquired a taste for Deep Purple in particular. That was amany moons ago. Don't know if I'd enjoy it today.

George, grab Who Do We Think We Are? and put on Woman From Tokyo. That'll tell you real quick if you still like The Purple. :T

Nothing even close to my cup of tea, I'm afraid.
                                                              How old are you guys?

                                                              I'm 40.

I have always enjoyed what I consider to be a wide range (genre wise) of music. But I must admit, It was about 30-31 8O when I began to listen a lot more to jazz, easy listening, classical and vocals. I'm not really sure as to why. But, I assume it has/may have to do with, age.

I think that people in general tend to change every 5-7 yrs or so. Most short term goals either make it or break it in this time frame. And as such, your life changes too! I think that music in many cases (but not always) tends reflect one's disposition and or influances. I know when I was riding motorcycles and driving muscle cars, my music taste was fast pace as well. Now that I have no interest in beating everyone else to the next red light, my music has slowed down as well.

                                                              So you've been warned! :B

However For relaxing I find myself Listening to Bruce Cockburn, Kate Wolf, Dire Straits, Jackson Brown, Light Jazz & Classical. One thing I really enjoy is collecting rare one hit wonders . Things like the Northwest band The Wailers, The Texas band The Bubblepuppy (funny name) But great rock tune Hot Smoke & Sassafrass, Etc. If you got questions about who recorded what in the 60s & early 70s I can probably answer it . Most of the time 1300 cds & growing bigger every week . :P

Not really a fan of rap or hip hop, but most everything else finds its way into my system. Nothing for me to switch from Ellington, to Nitty Gritty, to The Clash, to Bob Dylan, to Beethovan.

I think us older guys have had a very nice advantage of having lived through some really great movements in music in our lifetimes.

WILLIE NELSON & FRIENDS LIVE AND KICKIN'

It's a fun cd with songs like Night Life, Blue Eyes Crying In The Rain, Homeward Bound, Crazy ( this has Diana and Elvis), Wurlitzer Prize ( this has Norah Jones), etc.

You don't have to be a country fan to enjoy this little gem.
