    Emotiva Phono-PRE

Emotiva finally released their much anticipated Phono Pre. Looks pretty nice and seems to have lots of settings on it at a relatively nice price as well.

Wow, that is cheap for all the features it has!
The construction/topology does not look too bad either, imho.
Personally, I despise Wall Warts, but for the price you could not expect anything else.
I wonder how good it 'really' does sound, & I wonder how much better it might sound with a proper PS?
It might actually be worth adding a PS that cost more than the pre itself & still have a set-up that can be seen as a value relative to its comparative performance.

There are some pretty nice DIY oriented PSU's you could build for this that wouldn't be much more than 50 bucks or so. TwistedPearAudio has one you could probably setup for this and work pretty well.

Also if you'd like to try it they do offer 30 day trial period where you can send it back for any reason you want .

Hold on there Bill. Wall warts can do wonderful things! :T It's all about design and implementation. With a wall wart the noisy transformer is outside the preamp box, far away from the high gain phono section that can pick up all kinds of noise. It appears from the photo you posted they've added additional power supply filtration/regulation after the wall wart which is probably regulated as well.

As Doug points out another nice thing about wall warts, is that it's easy to upgrade the power supply. Just hook up the right voltage and current rating to the jack there. A battery power supply might be a nice upgrade for it, and could be really simple

          Rotel and Emotiva - compared
          by SkyDover
I've been a big fan of Rotel products. I have a Rotel RC-1090 and RB-1090 for home. I also had a RB-1092 and RC-1090 that I purchased for my office at work to listen to when working later hours, to give me something to listen to. During a period of time we were relocating our office in another location,...

Rotel 1069 or to-be-released Emotiva processor?
          by kmcheng
Has anyone done a comparison of Rotel vs. Emotiva in terms of their processors? I am about to pull the trigger on the Rotel 1069, but then I came across the Emotiva UMC-1. The Emotiva unit has not been released yet. However, I am wondering if anyone has listened to some previous versions of Emotiva's...

          Emotiva RMC-1 Meltdown
          by theSven
I've had issue with my Emotiva RMC-1, and I've even sent the unit in to Emotiva for service. I was out of town for work travel for 2 weeks, and upon returning I wanted to watch a movie and spend some time in my theater. I go to turn on the Emotiva and it doesn't boot. I get the typical error ARMC-1...

B&W DB1 and JL F113 and Emotiva... Fun day to say the least
          by BVLDARI
So I had an interesting AV day yesterday. First, Emotiva was in a suburb in Chicago. Second, my dealer is not far from where Emotiva was - so I planned an afternoon music.

My Emotiva experience was a bit disappointing. They did not have enough people there to handle the (relatively small)...
